Speech by Nick Lloyd
This may be a bit short but it worked really well. Obviously a couple of the stories need to be adapted. Thanks for the invaluable help from your website.

I would like to thank you all for coming today and helping to make Steve and Mary wedding day such a memorable and special occasion. I must say it has been a great day and so emotional, even the cake is in tiers!
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Nick and I've known Steve since secondary school. Well actually since cub scouts, aaaaaahhhhhh.
I'd like to propose a toast to the bridesmaids Emily, Honey and Lola. You all look great.
Ladies and gentlemen, the bridesmaids.
Congratulations on getting Mary to the church on time – no mean feat as I understand she put up quite a struggle.
Alternatively
On behalf of the bridesmaids and myself I'd like to thank you Steve for your kind words and gifts.
Thank you for the honour of being your best man. It really has been a pleasure.
I would like to say how beautiful Mary looks today in that fantastic dress. I think you'll all agree that this beautiful and smart young lady fully deserves a great husband, so fair play to Steve for getting in there before she found one.
Thank you Phillip and Jan for having us all here today, it's been great. Thank you.
As the Best Man I've had to ensure that the groom arrives on time, is sober, and looking good. Well 2 out of 3 isn't bad. I challenge anyone to do something with Steve's hair.
As Best Man, I now traditionally should divulge a few stories from Steve's past, dish the dirt if you want. But I've decided to take it easy on him mainly because they'd incriminate me too. So I won't be telling you of the day Steve came into school with died ginger hair, or the time he tipped his Lada into a hedge a couple of hours after giving me my first driving lesson. Or of the time Steve announced to the class that he believed test tube babies were actually grown in a test tube.
Steve was always a great sportsman at school. He'd be successful at anything he turned his hand to running, hurdles, pole vault, tug of war, egg and spoon. The list goes on. Steve was also a good team player. I remember in one cross country event Steve ran on ahead, finished the race, and then trotted back to help push me up the hill.
Like many of you here today, Steve loves dancing and
he can dance to absolutely anything. He always dances the same way though… I'm sure he'll give us a bit of a taster later on
this evening.
I have a few cards here to read:
Right I think I've said enough, so now to my last duty,
Steve and Mary
