Speech Date: oct 2004
Ladies and Gentlemen

Be glad that I am not drunk yet because this speech would go on for hours, mind you i will have to be quick because my suit has to be back in twenty minutes.

May i take this opportunity to thank Ben on behalf of the bridesmaids and Ushers for his kind words and for making us all part of your special day.

Before I start, I'd just like to say congratulations to the happy couple and to say how gorgeous Emma looks today.

I think I am supposed to tell you now all the things Ben has gotten up to, all his secrets, but really just like me he has been an angel, since I met him all those years ago in 1982.

We met at nursery, which is really the only time I can remember Ben being at school. Saying that I can't remember much more after that, nothing to do with our friend Stella, of course, Stella Artois that is.

One night I can remember, it was Halloween, Ben was dressed as a fairy, which was funny at the time until I realised how scary it was! But thankfully Emma came along and all my worries faded away.

We have pretty much caused chaos everywhere we have been, Pontins, Tenerife, Pontins again, whether we were smashing through windows because we had forgotten our keys, singing along to Pontins songs, or throwing up in the girls toilets, we were always there to help each other along with the help of Kessy Super….oh and Bens mum. But don't worry Emma, Ben has said he isn;t going to drink anymore..but unfortunately he isn't going to drink any less either.

I'm surprised we made it here this morning, Ben ran out of hair laquer and was threatening to call the whole day off, but luckily enough we found some of Emmas's and don't you agree it was worth it…his hair looks lovely.

I read all the books on how to be the best best man and unfortunately that means I have to try and give you some advice,

Never go to bed on an argument, stay up and fight.

And Ben

Always have the last word in an argument and always make sure that that last word is sorry.

(Read cards selected by Ben and Emma)

Seriously though, it was going to be hard to find a better companion than me, but somehow he managed it! Emma is one in a million, and although there are plenty of fish in the sea, Emma is no ordinary kipper!

Before I finish, I would just like to say that loud and energetic cheering after speeches can burn up to 100 calories a minute, so get ready to burn.

Ben and Emma, may you share fun and excitement for today, hopes and dreams for tomorrow and love an happiness forever.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in a toast; I give you the bride and groom.
