Speech by Richard Andrews

Speech Type: Best man
Speech Creator: Richard Andrews
Speech Date: Aug2005
Well Tom, I hope you made the most out of your speech, now that you are a married man, that will be the last time you get to speak for 3 minutes without getting interrupted.

Anyway, firstly on behalf of the bridesmaids I'd like to thank tom for his kind words and gifts, they are very much appreciated and I think everyone here will agree with me that they look fabulous…

Claire may I say that you look absolutely stunning, Tom you just look stunned.

I'm sorry but this is only going to be a short speech because of my throat, if I go on to long Claire has threatened to cut it. But they say that the bestman's speech should go on to long any way, it should only last as long as it takes the groom to perform his marital duties on the wedding night… so I think I should have finished already.

Tom was born on October 24th 1978, now I've been doing some research around this date and it turns out, I don know if this is a coincidence or not, but 2 weeks after his birth, family planning was made available for free on the NHS.

Tom and I met at secondary school, where he quite literally stood out from the crowd, not just because he is a big fella. But because of his fantastic sense of fashion, this is one of the reasons I decided to hang around with him, to try and copy his style. Everything was going great, until my mum told me off for stealing her clothes.

I'd like to tell you all a little story about how Claire &amp Tom met those many moons ago. It was a very romantic occasion with music in the air stars in the sky and the sweet smell of…KEBABS out side of brackley kebab van. They go back there on the same day every year to enjoy that special moment where Tom asked Claire for a light… sorry, chip.

Claire you a wonderful girl who truly deserves a wonderful husband. A husband that will treat you right. A husband that will look after you're every need and a husband that will take care of you for the rest of your life

Tom you've done a great job getting Claire down the aisle before she managed to find one.

Not many bestmen can say that the bride and groom are both very good friends. I've known Tom for many years and known Claire for a good few too and I can honestly say that the pair of them are such a laugh to be around. I am so honoured to call my self your friend

One thing I've been told in the past, don't marry someone you can live with marry someone you cannot live without, and this is true of Claire and Tom, I can't imagine one without the other now.

Tom, we've had some great times together and you've always been there for me. You are as true friend and I am delighted to be standing here being a part of this very special day with you.

Before I finish I have a few messages I'd like to read out.

This is from Toms cricket team: We have found Tom to be completely useless in every position, we hope Claire has more luck.

This one reads, Tom your sense of fashion has been an inspiration to me throughout my career, H from steps.

This wedding is a testament to that special something that these two have for each other, so please be upstanding and raise your glasses to the bride and groom, the new Mr &amp Mrs Frogley.
