Speech by Sean Lawrence

I did some research looking at a number of websites but found Hitched’s database of speeches invaluable, pilfering a few gags. I obviously wanted a speech which would be well received but which wouldn’t take too long to get through however it surpassed all of my expectations as it went down an absolute storm, the gag’s relating to the queen and “one in a million…” were being re-quoted throughout the night, and I can only say to any prospective best men is that if you get the speech right you probably won’t have to put your hand in your pocket for the rest of the night as I was bought drink af

Ladies & Gentlemen Good Afternoon,

I am the Best Man and incidentally Kieron's older & better looking brother, for those of you who don't know me my name is Sean, or as my friends call me “Sean would you like a drink?”, … and I would like to think we are all friends here today.

Now, being asked to do a best man's speech is rather like being asked to make love to the Queen … – it's a fantastic honour, but nobody really wants to do it!

However, I have taken the role of best man very seriously and a few of my responsibilities were..… to make sure Kieron got to the ceremony on time, that he is well dressed and looking smart, which I'm amazed we've managed to do, I also had to make sure that he got a good nights sleep, … and I'm pleased to report that last night he slept like a baby….he wet the bed & woke up crying for his mummy.

Now, we are all here today to celebrate the marriage of Kieron & Andrea,
a love match – pure & simple!
Andrea's PURE, and Kieron's ……

I'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of the bridesmaids to thank Kieron / Dennis for his / their kind words, and may I also say that they have done a fantastic job today and they all look beautiful.

I'd also like to say that Andrea looks one in a million, whereas Kieron looks, well, more like won in a raffle! Seriously though Andrea looks absolutely stunning, as I'm sure you all agree.

On behalf of the Bride & Groom I'd like to thank you all for coming from far & wide, the length & breadth of the country & from across the sea, a big, big THANK YOU to you all for making this very special day even more memorable.

On behalf of Kieron & Andrea I would like to thank all of you, and those who unfortunately couldn't be here today for the wonderful cards, gifts & kind words.

Today each of us here wishes the happy couple well. Being human they will have their disagreements and life being what it is there will be sad moments as well as glad. Yet I know that today we are all wishing them happiness and health in the years to come, and I am sure that the love between Kieron and Andrea will be strong enough to last forever.

And if you look at the role models the bride & groom have in their own parents, if Kieron & Andrea are lucky enough to have even half the love and commitment shown in those relationships then they will be truly blessed.

Ladies & Gentlemen if you would raise your glasses to toast Andrea & Kieron, the Bride & Groom.
