Speech by Steve Johnston

Dear Hitched, This is my best mans speech that I did for my mates wedding last saturday, it seemed to go down very well. I used your website, to help me write my speech and found it very helpful.

Speech Type: Best man
Speech Creator: Steve Johnston
Speech Date: Nov2005
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentleman :

Firstly on behalf of, the two bridesmaids, Heather and Debbie, I'd like to thank Peter for his kind comments and their gifts. It's a pleasure to speak on behalf of such nice people, and I'm sure you'll all agree – they both look fantastic today and have done a great job.
As you have probably guessed I am the best man. My full name for those of you who don't know me is Steve would you like a drink, so don't be afraid of using it when addressing me at the bar.

There's no doubt that my role as best man is going better than expected already, starting with last night, it was my duty to make sure that on Peter's last night of freedom he was put safely to bed…..and not on the overnight Eurostar to Paris.

Well I can assure you all that he was in bed nice and early and slept like a baby…………….he wet the bed twice and woke up crying for his mummy.
And as far as this morning goes, I managed to get Peter to Shuttleworth on time……….which is a first, sober, which is unusual, and smart, which is unheard of. Have been successful.

Peter and Katie have done so much together already, from when they first met at Hatfield uni to renovating their first home. In fact I only just found out that Katie only agreed too marry Peter once the Central Heating had been installed, and that he's still sleeping in the spare room, until the Nursery has been finished. Actually, I can't believe that after they get back from honeymoon they will be back to the DIY. Married life for them will no doubt start with a lot of banging and screwing
Their love still seems so pure and simple, Katie so pure, Peter so simple. Peter has indeed found someone special and in all seriousness I can say that now. There are not many best men who can describe the bride as a true friend as well as the groom, but I'm lucky in that I can do just that. It is an honour being the best man here today and I'd like to offer them the traditional Best Man's wish of good luck, good health and happiness.

Finally on behalf of the bride and groom, I'd like to thank everyone here for sharing their day, particularly those who have travelled long, it now gives me immense pleasure, to invite you all to stand once more and raise your glasses in a toast for Peter and Katie , Mr and Mrs Blackmore. We wish them well for the future and hope they enjoy a long, happy and fruitful marriage. Peter and Katie.
