Cheers rhys for the touching speech.

Ladies and gentlemen im tom and as you've probably worked out rhys best man.

The day rhys asked me to be his best man I was straight on the internet searching for ideas for the speech.  Now I  read on one site the best man speech should be no longer than it takes the bride and groom to make love. Cheers.

On  a more serious note I would like to thank you all again for coming today and  like me booking a Monday off work as rhys was to tight to have his wedding on a Friday or Saturday.

Now I hope everyone has enjoyed the day so far….its been very emotional even the cake is in tiers.  Im sure you'd all agree when I say all the barmaids are….i mean bridesmaids are looking beautiful today and getting better but they have all been eclipsed by the sarah.

I have to say how lucky you are rhys you will be leaving here today having gained a wife that is attractive, smart, loving and caring.  And also sarah how lucky you are, you will leave here today having gained…a new dress and some flowers.

Joking aside rhys is one of my best mates and he has had the pleasure of knowing me for over half his life.  He is a true friend and although we don't see each other for weeks at a time due to our jobs I always know he'll be there for me if I ever need anything and im hope he feels the same.

So I started thinking of suitable stories for my speech and it was only one I could think of.  6-7 years ago we decided to go on a bit of a bike ride only a little ride. About a third of the way round I found myself way ahead and waiting for rhys so decided to stop and wait next think I know he has Karen on the phone and shes had to bring rhys food an almost put his bike in the car and take him home/hospital. But I guess that's why he joined the RAF.

I have various other stories bout me and rhys and we have always stayed together on nights out, usualy in a+e or a police station.

Now I couldn't do my speech without giving some wise words to rhys and sarah before they start the great adventure that is marriage.

Firstly, sarah, just remember men are like floor tiles, lay them right the first time and you can walk all over them for years.

And rhys I say the most important thing in a relationship is compromise, set the ground rules establish whos boss and do everything sarah says.

Whilst I think it goes without saying, I guess it's the best mans obligation to point out the obvious; what an astounding couple you make. You compliment each other not only as a couple but as Parents also. I know that Eva is blessed to have you as parents and role models.

On that note can I ask you all to stand.

Firstly id like to raise a toast to absent friends and family.

Rhys and sarah I am honored you have chosen me to represent you on one of the most important days of your life.

May your love be modern enough to survive the times, but old fashioned enough to last forever.
