Speech by Kelli Boyd

Hello “Hitched.co.uk”, Here’s my speech! You’re welcome to pop it up on your website to assist other Brides – the current examples helped me, so I’d like to return the favour! (and there are NOT many “Bride Speeches” out there, so the more the better right?).

Speech Type: Bride
Speech Creator: Kelli Boyd
Speech Date: OCT 2002

Good evening,

“A good speech, they say, should be like a mini-skirt – short enough to be interesting, yet long enough to cover the essentials”

So with that in mind (and I can relate to clothes!) I promise to keep my speech: Brief!

I'm delighted you are all here today, and thank you for your gifts.

One person in particular, who bent over backwards for me, went that extra mile, pulled out all the stops and put up with all the times I changed my mind and double-double checked things! She's my older sister , my Matron of Honour, Kimi – THANK YOU!

Also a HUGE thank you to Emma one of my dearest friends since High School who travelled from the UK to be here! That alone has made my day even more special!

Shenee and Little Lamb – for your tremendous support and efforts today – thanks guys!

I do have 2 THINGS to say to the MC, Groomsmen & Ushers… no mushy stuff guys so don't sweat it…
THANK YOU for letting Kris survive the Stag Night
THANK YOU for getting my man to the church on time!

That's all what mattered to me – you did YOUR job! WELL DONE!

Dad – this is the second daughter you've had to give away, I bet you're getting the hang of it, and when Shenee's rolls round you'll high-five her and say “Race you to the Altar”.

Thank you for bringing me to this little island of paradise in the Pacific Ocean! Little did I know this girl from Africa would find the man of her dreams in New Zealand, and end up marring a Kiwi boy from Palmy! Dad I have the utmost respect for you and have always heed to your words of wisdom.

Mom – I probably call you “MY BEST FRIEND” more than “my Mom”, because you are! You and Kim and Shenee truly are my best friends! Ma you have always been my guiding force in my life, my mentor, the very role model I aspire to be and my pillar of strength. God knows how close we are and the special bond we have. Thank you for being my constant confidant – no matter where we are in the world, or what time of day it is – I am truly THANKFUL and GRATEFUL for that.

I am lucky enough to have another set of parents – my new in-laws.

A special THANK YOU to you John and Maureen, for welcoming me into your hearts, your home, and your family. I have always wanted brothers – which I now have, yay cheers Jaron and Damo!

And now I turn to the sole reason I am dressed in white today – my wonderful husband!

Thank you for your compliments earlier and you look sensational too by the way, and I didn't even dress you ha ha, or no actually I did as I chose the suits ha ha!! Eek! Love you!

Life is full of SURPRISES and you are certainly the BEST SURPRISE that's ever happened to me.

Thank you for all your hard work babe – both professionally and academically, in realising our dreams. We've had many exciting times already such as living in Sydney, renovation house, building houses, trips away… and it's only the beginning isn't it?

As you always say, we make one hell of a TEAM! NOT your explanation but because our weaknesses are each other's strength's.

I am so proud to be your wife and officially be “Kelli Boyd” and look forward to sharing the rest of my life with you. I was careful not to say spend the rest of my life with you – in case you give me a hard time about “SPENDING $$ chi-ching” ha ha!

Short & Sweet as promised – Thank you, God Speed and Good night!

I'd now like to call on the Best Man, one of Krisb's best mates and certainly a very good friend of mine – well, depending on the contents of his speech I might retract that!! Ha ha

Maddy – the floor is yours.…
