Good afternoon everybody for those who don't know me, and in fact for those who do but wish they didn't, I am Bob the very proud farther of the bride Claire Louise, and I can tell you Claire, you look absolutely beautiful today, you make your mom and I very very proud.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you all to the people sat up here today. From the left firstly we have Katie, Claire's step mom and my lovely wife, next to Katie is Steve, Claire's step dad and Jan's Husband, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the help and support he has given to Claire, then we have Jan Claire's Mom, and a very proud mom, on my right we have the gorgeous Claire + Dave her new Husband, and our new son-in-law how good does that sound you two. At this point I would like to welcome Dave to the family, next to Dave is Lorraine Dave's Mom, who I would also like to welcome to the family, next to Lorraine is Ted, Dave's best man Apparently a Spurs fan not a bad choice really, having got one of the best strikers in the Premership from Wolverhampton Wanderers Robbie Keane and the finally we have Faliraki Kelly, Dave's sister and a lovely looking chief Bridesmaid.
I would like to thank everybody, that has come to celebrate this wonderful occasion, I know quite a few of you have travelled a long way to be here and it is very much appreciated.
I would also like to thank the bar staff for there hard work, yes I know they haven't done anything yet, but trust me once we hit that bar later they won't know which way to turn, by the way mine's a large G & T with ice + slice thank you in advance.
I will keep this very short, as I would imagine that, there are a fair few of you out there that do not understand, a word I am saying, we have a very special accent up in the Black Country.
So just a few words about Claire, it doesn't seem 5 minutes since she was running round the garden with no knickers on eating slugs, well at least she has stopped eating slugs!!!
She made a very good majorette when she was 8 years old parading the streets of Brixham, and apparently the best baton tosser Brixham had ever seen.
But she grew up very quickly and in no time had me running her up the M6 to the NEC to see Take That, was it twice or 3 times Claire, then having to return later that evening, in an attempt to pick her out of a crowd of screaming young girls, all giggling because they had just seen Robbie and the boys.
But I wouldn't have had her any other way, she has gone through life sorting her self out, she is strong willed, and talking of strong willed that brings me to Dave the new Son-in- law, I say strong willed because as hard as we have tried we cannot persuade him to change allegiance from his beloved Chelsea Who are the champions Dave and to a lesser extent, in fact I hope, a much lesser extent Sandwell Town did anybody see the play off final As the majority of our side of the family support the famous Wolverhampton Wanderers with one or two supporting the not quite so famous Manchester United, but now Dave is part of the family we have plenty of time to try and convert him.
We hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Grand caneria, which by the way Dave you will find is the period where you will be saying I DO and Claire will be saying YOU'D Better.
Dave, I will end with the best advice that I can think of: The key to a long and happy marriage is to remember those most important words, “Yes Dear “
And always remember never go to bed on an argument- Stay up and fight
I know that both Dave and Ted are itching to get up and stand here before you to make their speeches, so thanks for listening and I hope you at least understood some of what I was attempting to say, and hope everyone enjoys today as much as I am.
Now I think it's time I shut up and sat down but before I go I would like to end my pleasant duty and propose a toast to the happy couple.
Here's to the past, for all you have learned.
Here's to the present, for all that you share
Here's to the future, for all that you look forward to together
Ladies & Gentlemen please be upstanding and raise your glasses
To Claire & Dave
