Speech by Colin Smith
I looked at a lot of the speeches here and although very good felt that some were just too long and that it is the Best Mans speech that is waiting to be heard. As Father of the Bride I wanted to welcome every one, thank the neccessary people, something brief obout the couple and raise a toast to the both of them. Then it was the Grooms speech followed by the Best Man. Mine was two two and a half of minutes with a few ad libs. I think of ideal length and content.

Good Afternoon family and friends,
I am not used to speaking for longer than 30 seconds without being interrupted ( pointing at the wife), so please bear with me. ( Said without referring to speech)
On behalf of my Wife Kathryn and the Grooms parents Wendy and Roy, I would like to extend a warm welcome and thank you ALL for joining us here today in celebrating Alexandra and Andrews Marriage.
I would like to thank Matthew and Claire for the excellent organisation of today, the Chef for the excellent food and each of the Hotel Staff. And also the hard work the happy couple have put in to make their perfect day, and also the photographer.
Alexandra looks beautiful in her dress. I felt like a King escorting his Princess to start the next part of her life.
Alexandra and Andrew met each other about 8 years ago.
We have got on well with Andrew from the first time we met and he makes the ideal partner for Alexandra. I would like to formally welcome him into our family. I am sure we will learn a bit more about him in a minute. Now they start the next stage as Mr and Mrs Carter- Day One.
I would like you all now to raise your glasses in a toast to
Alexandra and Andrew the new Mr and Mrs Carter.
