Speech by Colin Wilson

Hi I recently had my daughters wedding and I gained a lot of help and inspiration from your site. I have included my speech below if you wish to put it on your site. Thanks for all the help.

Speech Type: Father of the bride/groom
Speech Creator: Colin Wilson
Speech Date: Aug2008
Well good afternoon everyone and on behalf of myself, Susan, and James parents Anne + Billy, may I welcome you all to the Orwell Lodge Hotel to help celebrate the wedding of James + Claire.

I am sure you would all like to join me in thanking Bill and his staff for helping to make today such a wonderful occasion. Thank you Bill.

As the father of the bride I have the pleasure of making the first speech, as well as being the warm up act for the star attractions, the Groom and the Best Man. So I'll try and keep this short and sweet.

They say that good things happen in threes and as the proud father of 3 wonderful daughters I am immensely proud to be here today at the first of the weddings! No matter what age your children get you cannot help but look at them as your kids and when Claire told me she was going to get married to James I thought I'd be losing one of my little girls but, seeing her here today as a beautiful bride, I realise that, no matter how old she is, she will always be my little girl and I love her and how much her mum and I are proud of her.

What can I say about James? Well a hibbee? Oh dear, never mind we'll try and convert you maybe? Honestly now I don't think that Claire could have chosen any better. He's everything I could have hoped for in a son-in-law and a real credit to his parents Anne + Billy and I thank them for raising such a wonderful son. I am delighted he's chosen to join the family.

Well I can see that James is keen to get present his speech so I'll close with a toast:

May the best of your past,

Be the worst of your future.

Family and friends, I ask you all to be upstanding and drink a toast to the bride and groom, the new Mr + Mrs Robson, Claire + James.
