I've had quite a while to write this but as some of you will know I tend to leave some things to the last minute this speech was one of those, thank god for the internet.
At least I don't have to be witty and entertaining that's the best mans job.
I'd like to start by welcoming you all to lisa and lyns wedding reception its good to see so many friends and family here to celebrate their marriage.
I know some of you have made a special effort to be here today and I must say all the girls look splendid in their frocks and fasinators. Also Jonathan its nice to see you not in your working clothes.
Over the last 30 odd years I've had the privilege of watching lisa blossom from a stroppy, independent, argumentative young madam into the beautiful woman we see before us and today more than ever I'm particularly proud and I couldn't love her more – mind you she's still stroppy and argumentative!
Now it's customary on these occasions to offer the happy couple some worldly advice on marriage but they have already set up home together and very nice it is too and of course they also have a little daughter Seren.
Things were very different in my day we were not so forward and on our wedding night glenys and I sat up all night waiting for our sexual relations to arrive.
My best advice for lyn is to make the most of the honeymoon period and for those of you who don't know when this is it's the period between I do and you'd better.
My parting advice is that old married couples know that the secret of a successful marriage is patience, tolerance and forgiveness – failing that a bad memory seems to work.
All that remains for me to say is to ask everyone to have a good time and would you please stand and join me in a toast to the bride and groom.
I wish you fun and excitement for today – hopes and dreams for tomorrow – and love and happiness forever!
