Good afternoon, on behalf of Teresa and Dave I would like to welcome you al on this very special day, especially those who have made long journeys.
Teresa and Dave have gone to so much trouble over the last year to make the day perfect, they have both worked hard on every detail. Dave has worked particularly hard on the vodka luge.

Today is a wonderful start to their married life together, which I know we all hope is will be as successful as today is proving to be.

Now…… I know what you're all thinking. 28 April. Teresa and Dave have chosen today, a day steeped in history

. 1937 Saddam Hussein was born!
. 1974 Last Americans leave Saigon at the end of the disastrous Vietnam War!
. 1980 Alfred Hitchcock Died!
. 1986 Chernobyl – USSR!

So I'm happy to say that from today there is something more positive to associate with the date.

As Teresa's brother I could talk for hours about all the nasty tricks I subjected her to as a child or I could recall some more recent drunken stories. The trouble is she looks so stunning today I couldn't possible do that to her. I am very proud to be giving her away o behalf of our family. Thank you both for asking me it's been a great honour. Dave – Please look after her.

So, finally Teresa has found happiness after along and varied search. She's found Dave. What can I say about Dave? I can honestly say he's a genuine guy, loads of fun and a well mannered gentleman. Clearly the result of a solid up bringing and good education. In fact it was so good it wasn't until the third time that I met him that I realised he was a northerner.

I've many fond memories of evenings out with Dave although very few of getting home. I couldn't have chosen better and I'm delighted he's joining our family.

At this point I have made a note that I should offer some – possibly amusing advice about love and what makes a happy marriage, I might skip this bit Recently Divorced.

Joking aside Mum and I are both thrilled they have found each other. I'm not Teresa's father but I know that he would be have been as proud of her today as I am. You've not turned out to bad.

Here's to the past, for all you have learned Here's to the present, for all you share Here's to the future, for all you look forward to together Here's to love, laughter and happily ever after As Teresa and Dave start their new life Let's toast the new husband and wife Ladies and gentlemen please charge your glasses and join me in a toast

I give you the bride and groom
