Speech Type: Father of the bride/groom
Speech Creator: John Hanaghan
Speech Date: Jul2007
Good afternoon everyone. As the father of the bride I have the pleasure of making the first speech and paving the way for the star speakers, the groom and best men. I'm sure they are itching to get up!

I would like to welcome you all here today as you have all played some part, however small in the lives of Karen and Lloyds and I know that your presence here is important to them. I would like to especially thank my Brother Chris and his wife Julie for making the long journey from Australia to join us for this special day.

I'd like to thank Lloyds parents Ruth and Trevor, on behalf of the bride and groom, for their generosity towards the cost of the wedding it has been a joint effort

Carole and I are very proud today Karen has always brightened up our lives usually by leaving the lights on in the kitchen in the hall in the living room and in the bathroom talking about bathrooms Karen used to spend so much time in the shower that the local water board knocked on the door one day looking for the leak!

Being Karen's dad I have many memories of her as a baby. I have seen Karen be sick, I have seen her wet herself and crawl around on the floor but I think that's enough about her 18th Birthday

Lloyd, I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you into our family but I'm sure you know that you have always been welcome since that first day we met at my house.even though you are an Everton supporter Every Father hopes his daughter will find a smart, reliable, considerate young man so it's a wonderful to see Karen looking so happy and well today. And its a pleasure also to have become friends with Ruth and Trevor

Before I get to the toast I want to share a little more about what I found while researching about weddings . I read a book that stated that there are three key elements to a successful wedding day. They are :

The Aisle – The longest walk you'll ever take.

The Altar – The place where two become one.

The Hymn – The celebration of the marriage.

I am sure Karen must have read the same book as I heard her mumbling recently

Aisle, alter hymn
Aisle alter hymn

I have always known that Karen is a beautiful woman, but I have never seen her look quite so beautiful or so radiant as she does today I'm extremely proud of her

Ladies and gentlemen we have a radiant bride We have a handsome groom. Please join me in a toast to Karen and Lloyd
