Father of the Bride Speech Examples

This is my Brother of the Bride speech which I owe much of the content to several speeches on this site so I am pleased that I can hopefully contribute to someone else's day as the donnors have to mine. I used what I thought were the best bits of what I looked at. I wrote it two weeks prior and practiced everyday but even then I still read it out.   The key was in the delivery and it took me multiple practices at the venue just to get an idea of what I wanted to do. As father of the groom its said you should keep the speech lighthearted and make sure you cover off certain topics.  So I structured the speech as follows:  Greeting - Follow with a funny quote to lighten the tone - Provide background on my son and mention those in our immediate family - Mention how he met his bride - Welcome his bride's family - Talk about our observations feelings about them as a couple together - Offer fatherly advice - Close speech with a good laugh - Propose toast.  The speech took me 3 or 4 days to write by a paragraphs at a time and then rehashing them until it seemed t

By using your web site i was able to draft out the basic format of my speech, I used key phrases and paragraghs to ensure the role of the brides father was met,  I then gave it the personal touch and presented the groom with a certificate. The speech was warmly received reduced many to tears then laughter then cheers. This speech took me about ten days to produce and ten minutes to deliver. It was never intended to be too "heavy" or serious and several people were kind enough to say how much they had enjoyed it, most importantly, my daughter. I hope it gives you some ideas, but most of all, enjoy giving your own speech and Good Luck!

When composing the speech I used Microsoft SkyDrive which was useful that I could access my speech lines at any location to amend or add any brain storms I had in my mind so it was not forgotton. Much to my surprise on the day the speech had loads of positive feedback so at least the audience was not bored.

I found that by reading  previous speeches and adapting sections of them  was very helpful, also by reading it through both silently and aloud you get a feel of when a pause is needed. GOOD LUCK

I was terrified to do this speech as my daughter was truly against an elaborate speech. I believe mine is short, sweet and hits the right balance. I received many compliments afterwards  but most importantly from my daughter who whispered 'perfect' when I was done.

A heartfelt speech gleaned from all sources  - personal and internet - especially in the construction. Delivered nervously, but very proudly,  and well recieved - even complimented by toastmaster!!

These are the words i used to do the 'Father of the bride' speech for my step-daughter who wedded yesterday to a splendid man. All natural parents attended the wedding ceremony and reception and found they liked their discarded partners' partner! Good folk all around - how exceptional is that?
