Father of the Bride Speech Examples

I was asked to stand in as Father of the bride at my Nieces wedding, as sadly her father passed away when she was a baby.  Whilst it was an immense honour and privlege to do this, the speech gave me concerns as I wanted to mention her dad, but without being too sad, and also mentioning her mum who has raised 3 children all on her own - and they are all amazing individuals.  Your website gave me so much help in both some of the content but also the structure of the speech - so thank you.  I hope uploading my speech can help others.   My speech went down a storm, and everyone complimented me o

I really enjoyed giving my speech and made a deliberate effort not to rush it as sometimes happens with public speaking. Prepare well in advance and add to it and make changes as ideas come to you. Try and personalise it as much as possible without too many random jokes thrown in. Memorise the entire speech but refer to a written copy constantly whilst delivering it. In my case I became a little over confident and missed a small but important part of my speech. Nevertheless it was enjoyable and went down well with the guests.

I gave this speech as brother of the bride for my sister Pam at her wedding to Scott.  I read nearly every website giving example speeches (this being my favourite site) and slightly altered a few  jokes.  Everything I said came straight from the heart and the speech went down an absolute storm as virtually everyone came up to me congratulating me on how well presented it was and on the content itself.  I was a bag of nerves beforehand and had a wee whiskey to calm my nerves beforehand and slightly ad libbed parts.  I felt it went so well because I kept my energy as high as possible and kept t

For each of my two Daughters weddings, I devoted the latter part of my speech to each daughter in the form of a poem, one for Katie and One for dawn.

This seemed to go down well on the day, albeit the best man wasn't overly impressed at having to match it.

I am not much for words and speech writing even worse..I kept it short but covered all the bases.

The speech, along with the slides used, photos and a poem were all saved to disc and given to my daughter.   To show the photos, I arranged to have a projector connected to my laptop with the photos shown at the appropriate time.
