Ladies & Gentleman,

As Father of the Bride, it is my privilege to make the first speech, and I start by saying it is with great pleasure A—– and I welcome you all on this very happy occasion/, with a special welcome to N— and A—, Ni–‘s parents/ and our guests from New Zealand, T— D— & S—–/ who have made a very special effort to be with us today.

For A—– and I, today is a day of great Joy & Happiness laced with a thread of sadness.

S——- as you probably know is the 4th and last in our family, and the last of her generation in the G—- & V———- families. She followed the preceding 3 after a long break of 13yrs.
Some say we were careless. But if it was a mistake, it was one that brought us great joy and happiness.

She has brought us a 2nd lease in life, because before she came along/, the elder 3 were nearly grown up by then.

S— has been lucky. She is one who had the good fortune of having 3 siblings and yet being priviledged in many aspects as an only child because as she grew up the others had already cleared the decks.

She must have been about 18 when she first set eyes on ‘Her Tall Dark & Handsome N—‘ at Swinbourne Uni. while studying for their degrees.

Now Ni– is a nice sort of chap but he has the knack of twisting me round his little finger. Like taking our little Girl, getting me to help out in refitting his Bathroom, his Toilet, his Swimming pool, his Garden, his plumbing, –do you want me to go on Ni–?
But seriously we do hold him in high regard. He takes his responsibilities seriously and is a real achiever.

S— on the other hand like all women has Nima wrapped around Her little finger, without letting him know it.
She's always brightened up our lives, mainly by leaving Bathroom, Kitchen, Bedroom and Sitting room lights on all at the same time. But seriously she is Diligent and hard working, not in the house mind you, but when she feels she really wants to apply herself.

Now here's a little word of advice for you S——-. It is said, “The Man is the head, but the Woman is the neck, and the neck can turn the head any way it chooses”.

And a word of advice to you Ni–. Always remember a Woman is meant to be Loved, not Understood. This Golden Rule is known to stop many an argument even before it begins//. I will have to try it sometime.
Also remember “A man is incomplete until he is wed/. Then he is finished”.

May Almighty God Bless You Both in your new roles as Husband & Wife/.

Now I would like you all to stand as we drink a Toast to the Bride & Groom/ S——- & Ni–.
