Speech by Yvonne Freeborn
I was the mother of the bride and wanted a light and humerous speech. My daughter & fiance were married in Frascati just outside Rome and I decided to say the toast in Italian which was translated with help from my Italian neighbours! It was very well recieved.

Good evening one & all. For those of you who don't know me, I am Yvonne & I have the pleasure of being Chloe's Mum.
I am pleased that you could all be here to celebrate this happy day & I know how much your presence means to Chloe & Paul. I would like to extend a special thanks to Michael,Amanda & Charley who have travelled halfway around the world to be here today.
Two very special ladies who weren't able to travel here are Nanny Flo & Great Aunt Ruby who is 98 years young. They send their love & best wishes.
I want to take this opportunity to say how beautiful my lovely daughter looks,I'm sure you will all agree. Chloe,I am so proud of you. You have grown into a wonderful, strong woman & the best daughter any mother could wish for.
Whilst preparing this speech I got a little sentimental & decided to look at some old photos of Chloe. Tears welled in my eyes & one picture stood out. It was a striking pose of my precious daughter, lying on a rug, dribbling & pointing at the camera lens. What a treasure she looked trying to stand up on those wobbly legs. We'll never forget her 18th birthday!!
I am sure you will all agree this is a beautiful & romantic venue for a wedding. Chloe, being very anal & a control freak took the reins and has surpassed herself. Through her tireless planning & attention to detail, has made today a tremendous success for everyone.
Joking aside,Chloe is something of an action woman. Years ago she did a parachute jump for charity with a man strapped to her back,(not Paul!).
She has abseiled down Guys hospital, again for charity.
Last year she took part in Tough Mudder & is doing another one soon. Who in their right mind would pay to take part in a 12mile course with obstacles such as Electroshock Therapy,Artic Enema & the Mud Mile?!
Paul,it's lovely to see you looking so dapper in your suit. Dave & I are so pleased you & Chloe found each other & discovered true love. It is my duty & great pleasure to formally welcome you into our disfunctional family! I say formally because to all intents & purposes you have been an important part of our family for a long time.
If there is one quality my son-in-law has in abundance it is loyalty. And it is a loyalty that he has had tested beyond belief through the past 30 years of broken dreams & betrayed trust as a West Ham fan!! So Chloe, you can rest assured that however you behave over the next 30 years,Paul will stand by you!!!
I have a small gift foy you Paul. You can use it when you're watching football to summon another beer!! (a reception bell!)
It is my pleasant duty to propose a toast to the happy couple.
Divertimento e eccitamento per oggi,
Speranza e sogni per domani,
E amore felicita per sempre.
Fun & excitement for today,
Hopes & dreams for tomorrow
And love & happiness for ever.
Ladies & gentlemen, please be upstanding to raise your glasses to the bride & groom,Chloe & Paul,
The new Mr and Mrs Motion.
