Hi there,

first of all, thanks for your wonderful website, I found it immensely helpful with many things, but none more so than writing ny speech. As the Groom, I knew my speech would be fairly simple and would almost certainly go down well as long as I didn't directly insult any of my inlaws. Knowing this, I decided to leave writing it until the big morning, which, with hindsight, maybe wasn't the best idea in the world. Nonetheless, after reading your advice and scanning a couple of examples, I managed to produce a speech I'm actually quite proud of. So, in the hope that it might help somebody else, here it is:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, friends (old and new), relatives (old and new), on behalf of my beautiful wife and myself, thank you very much for being here today. I can safely say it wouldn't have been the same without you all…it would have been cheaper for a start, but that's besides the point.

More specifically, I'd like to thank Vic, my brand, shiny new father-in-law for all his kind words and good wishes.

In addition, I'd like to thank both Vic and Jan for all their kindness over the last 5 years and for keeping a relatively straight face when they heard I had proposed to their daughter. I've always chosen to assume those were tears of joy, Jan.

I'd also like to thank my parents, Kate and Les, for all their long years of love and support. If it wasn't for them, I can honestly say I wouldn't be standing here now. Thanks for the lift, guys.

Thank you also to Vern and Sal, who are responsible for all the fantastic flowers. They look wonderful. Tlaking of looking wonderful..… well at least you tried, Rich. Thanks, though, to Rich, my best man who's been a great friend for a long time. Depending on how incriminating his speech is, we might even stay friends.

(general thanks here to lots of other people – venue, photographer, readings in service, etc..)

I'd also like to thank Jen's beautiful bridesmaids, Milly and Vicky, for keeping her calm over the last 24 hours or so. A job I don't envy them.

Which brings me to the most importan person here as far as I'm concerned. Thank you to my bride, Jenna. For all your love, support, friendship, trust and a million other things. Basically, thank you for being you.

So with no further ado and depsite my better judgement, I'll hand you over to Richard."

Anyway, thanks again for the website, hopefully I won't need to use the Groom section of it again,
