Hi,
As you know I'm not one for many words and public speaking, plus I'm pretty nervous, so this will be short and I apologise if it sounds like an acceptance speech, but it kind of is because I won Faye's hand in marriage!
I'll start by saying that on behalf of my wife and I, we would like to thank you all for joining us on our special day. I know a few of you have travelled a long way to come and celebrate our wedding and we appreciate it very much, it's been great to see you.
We've got married today because it's 12 years to the day that our eyes met over a crowded dance floor and by the end of tonight we'll be in the same state we were then, except more in love and married and a few grey hairs and more wrinkles, well on me anyway.
I'd like to thank our parents for their generosity and help over the past few months and, well, since we got together. Without them we possibly wouldn't be here today.
So let's raise a glass.… to the parents……………………..
I'd like to say how pretty the bridesmaids look today and how handsome Harv is looking, and what a good job they all did. I'm very proud of you. And also a big thank you to Hailey for doing the girls hair and helping get them all ready.
Thanks to Ian, or rather thanks to Dennis for volunteering Ian to take some photos for us today. And thanks in advance to everyone that will take photos with the cameras on the tables. Keep em clean!
Cheers to my best man, my cousin Scottie for not only being a best friend but also like a younger brother – annoying! Only joking! There's nothing he wouldn't do for me and equally there's nothing I wouldn't do for him. And most Friday nights we like to do nothing together. I'd like to thank him for not putting me on a train tied, gagged and naked to Glasgow on my stag do. Cheers man.
I want everyone to know how lucky I feel to be stood here right now being married to Faye. Faye is beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring – the list is endless but unfortunately I can't read her writing! Seriously though, she looks absolutely stunning today. Faye is fantastic, she is the rock of our family and I want her to know how much I appreciate everything she does. I'd like to thank her very much too for organising the wedding pretty much single handedly, what a fantastic job you've done.
Thank you for accepting my proposal and putting up with me through the many, many ups and downs over the years we have known each other. I love you very much.
So…Please raise your glasses in a toast to my beautiful wife…To Faye!!
Now let's get drunk, dance and be merry!!! Well after my best man Ian says a few words.
Thank you
