Good afternoon everyone. Firstly, Emma… WOW!! You look absolutely stunning; I'm sure everyone here agrees – Seriously writing this speech has been a bit of challenge for me. I mean… how can I possibly fit 8 years into a matter of minutes? So I spoke to Emma about it and she kindly reassured me and said… Even if it was for only a few minutes, she'd be more than happy. Which is great for me… but there's a part of me thinks she‘ll end up regretting those words later tonight! Now, I did have a funny speech ready for you today, but as I am now a married man, I have been told what to say.… OK, here goes On behalf of my beautiful now WIFE Emma and I, we would both very much like to thank you all for being here, for sharing and supporting us throughout our journey so far and our big day today – it really is great having all our family and friends with us. Let me tell you about our first weekend away together just the 2 of us, all I was told was that it had to be full of culture, style, elegance – lol So we left late evening on the Friday and headed to a service station motel in Kent that I paid for with captain's club coach driver reward points, where Emma was greeted with roadside sausage and chips for dinner.. This is culture right? Then we ventured to our room to be greeted by a 3 legged bed! Yes it really did have 3 legs… guess who got the uneven side? The next morning we were woken by room service, by room service I mean someone banging on the door shouting breakfast is by the door mate… what more Elegance does a girl need hey?? So we swiftly departed where I was instructed to make sure tonight's hotel was at least liveable – we spent the day in Canterbury, where Emma enjoyed the shops, and the cathedral – I was happy when we found a pub! I booked us into our next hotel for the night in Dover's finest residence The Premier Inn Dover Docks!, fantastic idea, Emma was happy here, and I got points back on my coach driver reward card, the next day breakfast was ye old faithful buffet order what you like – so Emma ordered her croissant and tea and I placed my order of scrambled eggs, poached eggs you know mate the works … Emma got her croissant and tea I got some scrambled egg and a poached egg.… He didn't know what the works was!! We hope you are enjoying yourselves so far if not the bar will be open very shortly.… Please form an orderly line behind me Trevor, Thank you for being my Best man today, your support has been great, however I want you to know that you are more than a brother in law to me – you are the brother I never had, shame you support West Ham but not everyone is perfect.… They say being the best man can be compared to Snogging the Queen, it's an honour but nobody really wants to do it!! I would also like to thank my Ushers Lee and Andy Thank you for everything you have done I cannot ask for better friends, Also to Layla, Sam, Jessica, Kelsey and Ellen you all look spectacular and have all carried out your wedding duties superbly, Layla I would like to personally thank you for everything you have done to make Emma's bridal experience full of laughter, tears and alcohol and dealing with Emma's late night bridal breakdowns… Seriously thank you!! I would also like to extend my appreciation to Julie and Colin… For raising such a wonderful daughter, I know you already know this but Emma is so kind and caring… Beautiful… Funny… Intelligent … This list is endless… But unfortunately I can't read the rest of her writing… Also thank you to Adam for his reading in our ceremony today which meant a lot to us. Let me now say a few words about Julie, Emma's mum. Julie is now my mother in law – I'm not sure who is worse off but time will tell… I would like to reassure you that I will do my best to care for Emma, and also take this moment to thank you for allowing me into your family.… MUM FLOWERS
I am also lucky to have Colin, Emma's stepdad as my father in law. He is great at DIY – I am not! However we do both enjoy an occasional beverage, but please mate stop pinching the last bloody beer out of my fridge!! I would also like to thank my parents for their patience with me over the years. I know, I know I was the best child a parent could ask for to bring up, and I caused them no problems what so ever. Thank you for your love, support and just being the best… Mum, Dad – Mum ill wash up tomorrow!! MUM FLOWERS I would also like to thank my older sister Claire, for all the years of bullying and blindfolded mustard tasting mischief that brought you many hours of laughter and me many hours of pain – Seriously, Thanks for being a great sister I couldn't have asked for better… Kireon. Jessica, Kelsey and Nicholas – Where are you all? Please stand up… Today I stood in front of Church surrounded by each of our loved ones and made YOUR mum some promises, well I would like to make you some official promises right here, right now is that ok? (Cough, cough) I hereby promise you as your step father, honorary best friend for life- you as my stinky patrol, my gang, and my dear little monkeys that you WILL be tidying your rooms when we get home!! Seriously, from this point on I will continue to support, respect, love, and guide and most importantly protect you from the boogie man, ghosts, and yes Kelsey I'll get rid of Fred (our house spider who is the size of 5p piece and occasionally visits downstairs) so you can sleep soundly.… Also Bruce the hamster. It's ok I'm nearly finished.… just try to stay awake for a few more moments people I would like to thank Emma, my beautiful wife, for having me as her husband. Seeing her for the first time today made me realise what a lucky man I am. I had pictured the moment when she walked down the aisle but nothing could prepare me for how beautiful she looks She truly has made me a very happy proud man and I am looking forward to spending many more happy years together. I would say this is the happiest day of my life but that implies that it is all downhill from now on and I know with Emma that this will not be the case. No day is the same… I would like to say thanks to my granddad and auntie Kim for their love and support throughout my life and for all the memories you have created and shared.… So, before I hand you over to my best man, (God help me) I would like to propose 3 toasts so sip lightly!! Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding.… First toast is for our loved ones who sadly cannot be here to share the day today… To you my Nan Margaret, My Uncle Peter – Emma's Granddad Reg, Uncle Stephen and of course our princess Ellie-Mae – cheers
Second toast goes to us all, life is too short, live it, share it, have fun, share time with your family and your friends- cheers
Third toast is for us Emma; to our future and many years of memories and laughter and good times, our next chapter begins…
