Speech by Chris Sharp
As most grooms probably do, I was absolutley bricking it for the speech and was dreading the possibility of sounding dull and monotone during my speech! I decided to go for something a little different and believe a poem will hold people's attention more. Wedding is this Saturday so will report back!!

I'm not one for giving speeches,
And sometimes they can bore.
A poems’ a little different,
So today I'll give that a go.
First of all my wife and I
Would like to thank you for being here.
We've had a fantastic day so far,
With the people we hold so dear.
At the end of this there'll be one big toast,
So please top up your glasses.
Chink chink my friends and bottoms up,
But please don't raise your a****!
As a token of our thanks today,
We have some gifts to give.
I'm pretty busy reading this,
So the wife will come and assist.
Thank you Lee for your kind words,
And acceptance as a son.
I'll your Rox forevermore,
She'll always be number one.
We've four very special ladies here,
Julie, Anita, Vicky and Nan.
I hope you're as proud of us today,
As I most definitely am.
We love you four always,
Every day of our lives.
Your hour long phone calls day and night,
And also your cakes and pies.
Two more beautiful ladies here,
Bridesmaid Helen and Princess Skye.
My wife lit up the room today,
With you two not far behind.
Some people call me greedy,
A lot of things have come in two's.
Me and Roxy, Bridesmaids, readings,
Even the Stag Dos!
But another fantastic duo,
Ant and Dec besides.
Best men Brendan and Morgan,
Two men always by my side.
Brendan is a school time friend,
Always ready for a beer.
And if I'm ever in the s***,
Lend an ear he'll always lend an ear.
He's also a bit of a joker,
And his stories can sometimes surprise.
But please remember everyone,
His next one could be lies!
Morgan is the greatest son,
Without a doubt the best.
Me and Rox love you loads and loads,
Even though sometimes you're a pest!
He's turning into a real top chap,
A gent in every way.
And handsome too, the lucky lad,
More like me each day.
And now the woman that I love,
One of the greatest things in my life.
Roxanne Sharp you are the best,
And I'm proud that you're my wife.
We first met outside Newhey taxis,
During a night out with our friends.
But my dashing looks were not enough then,
I could not comprehend!
A week or two after you caught a glimpse,
Of my legs, which are quite hairy.
That image really put you off,
And you b******* off to Turkey!
Fast forward now just seven more years,
I think you've forgot the legs.
I'm pretty sure I clinched this deal,
With those first date scrambled eggs!
I won't go into too much detail,
Most of you will know.
2012 was pretty hard for me,
For Roxy even more.
But no matter what was going on,
She maintained that winning smile.
The most caring person I've ever met,
By a country mile.
And when she came down that aisle today,
I pinched myself to check not dreaming.
The way she wore that dress, so pretty,
Confirmed I'm over-achieving.
I love you more than life itself,
My wife, my lover, my friend.
I promise to make you the happiest woman,
Until the very end.
And last of some special thanks,
To Mel and Barry for the readings.
And Grandma and Granddad Sharp as well,
Who helped get this room all blinging!
Let's not forget our camera-man,
Shaun has got a good eye.
And Chris Storrey and the Cricket club,
For the buffet and the pie.
So thanks for listening everyone,
Hope it didn't drag on too long.
My nerves are shot; I'm off for a drink,
I'll make sure it's something strong!
But before I do, let's raise a glass,
In the customary way.
Long life, health and happiness,
To everyone here today.
