There came a point in my life
And it's taken many years
When I finally had to accept the fact
I had no chance with Britney Spears.
But a wise decision I made
And here I stand today
Married to a beautiful woman
But for a moment let me be truthful
All sarcasm and jokes aside
I'm the luckiest and most privileged guy
To call Charlene my bride.
I'd like to thank you all for coming
To share our special day
Especially to those who have made the effort
To come from far away.
Organising our wedding guest list
Was at times a little stressful
But all of you that are here today
Are the ones that make life special.
Both myself and Charlene
Hope you have an amazing time
Even if you've only come
For the free food and the wine.
We are truly privileged you have witnessed
the vows we made today
Now it's time to get the party started
And drink the night away.
**Toast guests**
There are sadly some people no longer with us
Whom that we both love
And I'm sure they have their glasses filled
and cheering us on from up above.
Some who absolutely loved Charlene
And some sadly will never get to meet her
But two special men she misses the most
Her Grandad Joseph and older brother Peter.
But I bet if they could both see you now
I know what they'd say
And that's how much of a beautiful person you are
And how amazing you look today.
I know how much of a hole they've left
And in your heart you wish they were here
They may go unseen and may be unheard
But take comfort they are always near.
** Toast to loved ones no longer with us **
To Phil, who gave Charlene away,
We are both delighted and thrilled
That you were by her side today
And the empty shoes that you have filled.
Both you and Sue are genuine proof
That family isn't just blood
You've remained just as close as times have moved on
And you continue to make her feel loved.
However, I'd just like to reassure you both
Now I've stolen her away
That I'll always love her and keep her safe
Each and every day.
I'd like to thank my Mum and Dad
And I'm sure Charlene will agree
For creating a product of perfection
And as beautiful looking as me.
But what I am most grateful for
As our relationship has grown
Is how you've taken Charlene in
And treated her like your own.
You've just reached 44 years of marriage
Which quite honestly I can't believe
You're an inspiration to both of us
And something we only hope to achieve.
You've bought me up with morals
To be respectful, honest and true
But I wouldn't have been any other way
With parents as decent as you.
**Toast to parents**
To all the wonderful bridesmaids
Firstly, I'd just like to say
You've all scrubbed up very nicely
And are looking beautiful today.
You are pillars of strength to Charlene
Your friendships, so close & dear
I've witnessed first-hand what amazing friends you are
Loyal, caring and sincere.
I know she would like to personally thank you
For all your help along the way
And for adding all those little touches
Making her feel so special today.
She really does cherish you all
She appreciates everything you do
And any girl would be truly lucky
To have amazing friends like you.
When it comes to my best men
I couldn't ask for more
I've known Gary for 16 years
And Ash since I was four.
I was delighted when they accepted the job
And took it on with no hesitation
Now just have to get through their speech
With hopefully nothing to sinister to mention.
Gary has been a very loyal friend to me
He has seen me through my good times and some bad
But the downside to having a mate that is old
Quite often he's mistaken for my Dad.
Ash is my longest childhood friend
One of the most genuine guys you could meet
I have fond memories as kids, terrorising the old neighbours
And playing Ghostbusters out in the street.
You've both helped me out a lot over the years
All of which I truly appreciate
And you are two of the finest men
I have the privilege to call my mates.
So one final job I ask of you both
Now my speech is nearly finished
I can finally relax so can you go to the bar
And bring me a couple of shots and a Guinness.
**toast bridesmaids & best men**
In June 2011
Was when Charlene and I first met.
Up a club and a little worse for wear
But a night I'll never regret.
What I saw before me
Was clearly a match made in heaven
A beautiful girl with the biggest heart
Yet only 4ft 11.
3 years ago when we were in Spain
Was that very fateful day
When I asked Charlene to be my wife
And my freedom slipped away.
You are truly an amazing person
Graceful, caring and selfless
Outrageously beautiful inside and out
So loving with a heart full of kindness.
You put your heart and soul in to everything you do
And many hurdles you've overcome
But the one thing you do that is effortless
Is being a loving and wonderful mum.
The most precious gifts you have ever given me
That no one else ever can
Is Destiny, Theoden & Alyssa Grace
And made me a family man.
You are a crucial part of who I am today
A shining star in my life
And now from this very moment on
I'm so proud to call you my wife.
There are no words that I can use to describe
Just how magnificent you look today
I love you so much and I truly hope
you have a perfect wedding day.
The only downside to come from today
And a few here will feel your pain
That from today, until the day you die
You now have cock at the end of your name.
Ladies and gents,
She is the heartbeat of our little family
She is my best friend and my rock
So please stand up and toast my new wife
Mrs Charlene Hillcock.
