Speech by Craig Bryant

Speech Type: Groom
Speech Creator: Craig Bryant
Speech Date: 25/08/2011 18:16:42

Good afternoon friends, family and loved ones
I'm afraid it's now time for the bridegroom speech
I won't lie I've been feeling a little nervous
To keep me calm, I'm thinking of that Mexican beach

I've read lots of tips on writing the perfect speech
But now has come the moment I have all but dreaded
It's so difficult to get it right first time
But it is a requirement after getting wedded

I thought I would try and be original
So I hope this one can't be worse
As I plan to deliver it in my own unique style
As well rhyming every verse

It took a long time to come up with this speech
As it's tough to think of words that rhyme
I hope I can pronounce and voice it all properly
Especially after the Pimms and wine

There will be quite a few toasts to be made
And some moments might sound mad
So please don't neck your drink on the first one
I'm mentioning no names….Dad

Firstly, I should begin
And what better place to start
Than by thanking my new parents-in-law
For inviting me in with open hearts

I should thank you for welcoming me in to your family
But this seems strange for me to do
As I've felt a part of it for many years now
And that's all been down to you

We really can't thank you enough
For all your contribution in making our special day
We couldn't have done it without you
Without it, we would still be fiancées

To Steve, your speech was very emotional
I didn't expect anything less
We both thank you for your very kind words
I hope this one is as much of a success

It was very moving and heartfelt
It will always be remembered as a part of our big day
Also I thank you for giving away your daughter so willingly
A little too willingly, some might say

To Sharon, we thank you for all your hard work
You practised the cake with quite a lot of baking
Not forgetting your original place names
And your help with the stationery making

I couldn't have asked for better in-laws
You really wouldn't believe
So for that I thank you one more time
And dedicate this toast to Sharon and Steve

TOAST: To Sharon and Steve

You were all here to witness a miracle today
On this very important date
No, it wasn't our wedding ceremony
But for once in their life, my parent weren't late

As there is another part of this family joining
Southsea is where it starts
For on this side is my family
They are always close to my heart

For twenty-six years you have both supported me
They seem to have flown by at pace
So thank you for your love and support
And also for welcoming Beccy with a warm embrace

We thank you for your contribution today
We couldn't have done it without you
We've ended up with wonderful meal
And hopefully a crackin’ evening do

Please now raise your glasses
As I would like to add
A toast to my two parents
This is a toast to my mum and dad

TOAST: To Janice and Tony

Next I should thank all of you lot for turning up
As without you all the day wouldn't have been the same
So we would both like to thank you all
As we are very glad that you came

With special appreciation to those guests
Who've come here from so far away
We are delighted to have you here with us
It has really made our day

Lastly I would like to show our gratitude
For all the wonderful presents, gifts and cards
Although the best gift we could have is your attendance
So please accept our regards

I wasn't sure whether the guests usually have a toast
But I thought perhaps it's overdue
So here's to all of you for being here today
So please have a toast to all of you

TOAST: To our family and friends

Now I should talk about my new bride Rebecca
With whom I will treasure for the rest of my life
Next comes the obligatory first mention
Of the fact that she is now my wife

I'm sure you were panicking this morning
Probably having an early wine
But everyone will agree when I say you have nothing to worry about
As your bum doesn't look big and your hair is fine

I proposed to you eighteen months ago now
This day seemed so far away
I can't believe how quick the time has flown by
Before I knew it, here we are today

It was in the middle of a garden maze
Located at Staunton Country Park
I planned it to be a big surprise
Hopefully setting a worthy benchmark

We have been together for a long time now
Nearly six and a half years
In that time, a lot of ups and downs
But also some of great cheers

But after all these wonderful years together
The time has finally come
To make the biggest commitment to each other
In the church which we have done

My wife is wonderful, lovely and considerate
I'm very lucky to have her as my bride
She looks absolutely gorgeous today
For the future, I hope I can provide

To me my wife is beautiful
She is caring, kind and smart
With a lovely sweet caring nature
That truly touches your heart

Words can't describe how exquisite you look today
Although I think everyone will agree and acquiesce
That you look so pretty, gorgeous, and flawless today
As well as stunning in your wedding dress

We will have some wonderful and amazing years to come
Of that I have no doubt whatsoever
You have made me the happiest man alive today
And I will love you always and forever

I would like to now propose a toast
To the person I will be with for the rest of my life
And dedicate this toast to my lovely new bride
So please raise your glasses to Rebecca, my wife

TOAST: To Rebecca

I'm afraid I need to do a few more toasts now
So I hope you're not starting to wane
I hope you all have some sparkling wine left
Yes, I know it's not Champagne

When it came to planning our big day
I knew straight away who I wanted as my best men
Unfortunately, they were both busy
So I had to settle for Aaron and Adrian

Thank you Aaron and Adrian for being our best men
You both look great in all your regalia
Aaron has travelled a very long way to be here today
If you haven't guessed it yet, it's all the way from Australia

We appreciate you travelling that great distance
As it wouldn't have been the same without you
You are both great friends and have always been there when needed~
More than I could hope for, that much is true

So please now raise your glasses
As we have to toast once again (AGEN)
This one goes to Aaron and Adrian
The two greatest of best men

TOAST: To the best men

Apart from my wife of course
There are three beautiful ladies to give thanks to
Amy, Laura and Lauren were our lovely bridesmaids
So accept our thanks to all of you

My wife always knew who her bridesmaids would be
You were all top of her list
There was never a doubt in her mind
Of that I will insist

Thank you for your effort and hard work
We couldn't have done it without you
You all looked lovely in your dresses today
So we would like to thank you all too

So please raise your glasses
As another toast is called for
Thank you to the three bridesmaids
We couldn't have asked for more

TOAST: To the bridesmaids

I cannot forget the ushers and flowers girls
They really went the whole distance
The day wouldn't have been as smooth without them
I need to thank them for all their assistance

Matthew and David were the ushers
They both look dapper and smart
Luckily everyone made it to their pews
They really looked the part

Emma and baby Lucy were the flower girls
They look so beautiful and cute
I'm sure the photos will remember them
As having a great smile to boot

We are nearly at the end of the speech now
I hope I've kept you engrossed
As now we thank the ushers and flower girls
So please raise your glass for one more toast

TOAST: To the ushers and flower girls

A big thanks must go to all the hotel staff
As well as Eli the wedding planner
You have all helped to make our day run smoothly
And given us a memorable day in this great manor

My speech is all but over now
I'm glad you all survived
But the speech you have all been waiting for
Is just about to arrive

Before I hand it over to the best men
I would like to just point out
That Aaron and Adrian live in a fantasy world
Where they make up stories throughout

Take what they say with a pinch of salt
As we tend to just humour them two
It will probably all be fabricated
So I doubt any of it will be true

But before I hand it over to them
My wife and I would just like to say
We hope you all have a great time
As you have helped to make our special day

We will always remember our day with affection
A pleasure to recall
So please here me one last time
When I say thank you one and all

TOAST: Thank you
