Well, I'd just like to thank Roger for those kind words and gifting me his daughter's hand in marriage…I just can't wait to unwrap her tonight.

Now as is custom, there will be a few toasts during this speech, so please make sure you don't down the whole glass at the first toast…Mentioning no names, Phil…………….

Now for the first time and probably the last, I'd like to speak on behalf of my wife…And I! It's lovely to see so many of our family and friends here today to help us celebrate one of the happiest days of our lives. I know that some of you have travelled a long way to be here and that means so much to us. So I'd like to thank everybody for making our day that bit more special by being here. So raise your glasses, here's to family and friends.

Unfortunately, it's not been possible to have everyone we love here with us today, but we know they're here with us in spirit and they're not only in our thoughts today, but more importantly they're with us in our hearts. So, with them in mind, would you please all stand, raise your glasses, and join me in a toast to absent family & friends.

(To absent family and friends)

I would personally like to thank Roger and Cheryl for accepting me into their family and making me feel so welcome. I would also like to thank you both on how well that you have brought Joanne up into the beautiful, caring, intelligent woman who I have had the pleasure of marrying today. I genuinely couldn't have asked for nicer in-laws. As a token of our appreciation please accept these gifts. So if you could all raise your glasses, Roger and Cheryl, Cheers.

Now as this speech is from both of us, Joanne would like to thank my Dad…You should be very proud to have raised such a handsome, intelligent, dashing son, who is athletic, wise and a very modest man, who is…Have I already said handsome?

Seriously, I would like to thank my dad for the love and support over the years. You've always been there for me when I've needed you. I feel extremely lucky to have you. You have taught me so much and always encouraged me to make the most out of every opportunity I've had…  It must be really hard to come to terms that you have raised such a perfect Son. We would like to give you this gift as a token of our appreciation. To my Dad Dave, Cheers!

This leads me onto my gorgeous new wife. I can't even begin to explain how absolutely stunningly beautiful you look today. When I saw you coming up the aisle I realized just how lucky I am, looked at myself and knew it's definitely me getting the best deal…… Joanne I love you in so many ways and for so many reasons. You understand me like no one else could, you always make me smile and laugh, and always bring the best out in me, you're my best friend, soul mate. And to top that off, you're an amazing mother to our beautiful daughter Shaney and our wonderful son Koby. You've made me the happiest man alive. I love you. So raise your glasses, to my wife Joanne. Cheers!

Tradition now dictates that I now tell you an amusing story or two about Joanne. However, “her indoors” as I shall now be calling her, dictates that I do no such thing. But I will say this. We have been together for 5  years and in that time I've learned a very valuable lesson.  Whenever I'm Wrong – Admit It!! Whenever I'm Right – Keep Quiet!!

And if you believe that you'll believe anything.

I'd like to thank our bridesmaid and daughter Shaney, I'm sure everyone will agree with me that she looks stunning. I'd like to thank you for the help and support you have given up to and including this day. I couldn't have asked for a better. Here's a token of our appreciation. If you could all raise your glasses to Shaney, Cheers!

Now to our wonderful son Koby who has done a fabulous job as Pageboy today. You look absolutely fabulous in your WEE Kilt. Thank you very much for your help, Here's a token of our appreciation. If you could all raise your glasses to Koby, Cheers!

Now there is an unwritten rule at weddings that no one should look more handsome than the groom and I am pleased to say that the usher, Norman, has stuck to that rule. You were a great help in planning the finer details of today, and you've done a superb job. So here's a token to show our appreciation, raise your glasses to Uncle Norman, Cheers!

And finally my best man Phil..… You want to give a wee wave? I would like to say thanks to you for agreeing to be my best man..… I'd like to point out that he suffers from a rare medical complaint which makes him prone to dipping in and out of reality when it comes to telling stories that he believes to be true…… So if you could all bear that in mind for his speech…We have of course also got you a gift to say thank you but will be keeping hold of it until I've heard your speech. Last week he told me he was more nervous than me, so please feel free to hassle him during his speech. Joking, as a token of our appreciation here's a gift. Raise your glasses to my best man and brother Phil, Cheers!

That's it from me, so I would like to thank you all again and hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. It's now my pleasure to hand you over to my best man Phil…….
