I've put a bit of a speech together today, but after Jimmy's sent us all to sleep I'll try to make mine a bit more interesting and entertaining. “Sorry Jim” only joking.
Before I start with my thank-you's, have you all seen the “fun cameras” on your tables? Please feel free to take photo's throughout the day. I think it'll be a good idea to take them early on as I don't expect many people will be able to focus very well as the day goes on and the drink starts to flow (“Auntie Chris and Shelagh the piss heads”)
So on behalf of my beautiful wife and I, we would like thank you all for coming along today, and sharing this very special day with us. And a huge thank you for the wonderful presents.
I would like everybody here, especially Joanne, to know how lucky and proud I am to be standing here today speaking to you as her husband. Joanne, my wife “Mrs Mais”, is beautiful, caring, intelligent, charming and (PAUSE)….what's that?… I can't read your writing darling!
Seriously though, I am overwhelmed at how beautiful she looks, and can't believe how privileged I am that she has become my wife. I am amazed to see Joanne smiling and enjoying herself as she has been so stressed organising what you will all agree has so far been a wonderful day – she has organised today almost single handily.
I would like to propose a toast to the ushers & bridesmaids (who I think you will agree with me look almost as beautiful as Joanne – the bridesmaids that is, not the ushers, they just look like… Ushers) for the wonderful job they have done today and I'd like them to receive a small gift as a token of our appreciation.
I'd also like to thank Shelagh and Jimmy for the help you've given us both emotionally and financially. We have a small gift for you as a token of our appreciation. (See Jo I don't just kiss the pretty ones).
I have to thank you for bringing up such a beautiful and intelligent daughter, (I'll leave you to argue over which trait comes from who!)
Jimmy and Shelagh are the best father and mother in law anyone could wish for and I appreciate every thing they have done for me in the last six years and I love them to bits.
Nathan I'll give you you're present in about 4 months as you did with mine.
I'd like to thank Steven for arranging the mini bus at short notice when the limo didn't turn up and making it possible for us all to go to Blackpool on my stag do. What a great weekend we had, we won't forget that for a long time. I'd also like to thank all my friends who came with me for what was a brilliant weekend.
Hope you all appreciate the lovely cake before us, as I woke up last Sunday morning thinking I was going to London to pick up the cake but it turned out the cake was the other side of Leeds. So id like to thank Steven again for travelling up to Harrogate to fetch the cake.
On a final note (who said thank god!) I'd just like to say how much we've been looking forward to today but more importantly we want everyone to enjoy the day as much as Joanne and I.
So now my thanks to Nathan for being my Best Man and I know you're waiting for his wonderful speech, so I'll now pass you over to him. No pressure mate.
Thanks everyone. (Little bow)
