Speech by Dean Gough

Speech Type: Groom
Speech Creator: Dean Gough
Speech Date: Jul 2009
Thank you Michael for your kind words,

This is the first time that Laura has ever let me speak for both of us so I will try and make the most of it as something tells me this novelty may not last for long!

Let me warn you all in advance that this speech involves a lot of &quotthankyous&quot and toasts so don't be necking the whole glass you have on the first one as the waiters won't fall for it!

I want to thank so many of the important people in our lives for being here today, some of you have travelled further than others but I can honestly say the day wouldn't be the same without you, it would be hell of a lot cheaper but that's beside the point!

We would both like to also thank you all for your generous gifts – it means a lot to us. I will let you all know exactly how much it means after the honeymoon as I'm sure Laura will be listing everything that doesn't match the house on Ebay first thing in the morning!

To Michael and Diane:
I want to thank you both allowing me to marry your daughter and making me feel like one of the family! You've taught me a lot over the last few years and I hope that you can trust me to make your daughter as happy as she makes me. Without you, today would have been very difficult, Laura and I appreciate everything you have done to make this day possible! As a token of our appreciation and for all you have done, we would both like you to accept these gifts.

To Mum and Mike:
Mum, I know that raising 3 boys has not been easy over the years and being the oldest and the most trouble was sometimes a job in itself! You have both always been there for me and your support has always given me the confidence to never give up and achieve what I have today. I'm so happy that you are both here today, please accept these flowers from both of us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please can you raise your glasses – To Michael &amp Diane and Karen &amp Mike – the In-laws and Outlaws!

To Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids:
My thanks goes to Andrea, Sam and Zo&#235 for all their help keeping Laura calm, relaxed and getting her to the church today – from experience, getting Laura anywhere on time is a challenge in itself so for this I am very grateful. Special thanks to Sam for helping her organise and her Hen Night in Newcstle. I've heard rumours about that Saturday night and by the sounds of it, Sam did a very good job of taking Laura's place as the hen and maybe enjoyed it a little too much!

To the Ushers:
Traditionally the bridesmaids or ushers should never look better than the bride or groom so I am glad to say that I've got no competition here! Thanks for all your help today guys, we have gifts for both the boys and the girls to show our appreciation for your efforts.

Please raise your glasses to Andrea, Sam, Zo&#235 &amp Adam and Russell

To Laura:
This leads me onto the star of the show, my gorgeous Wife. I know the last few weeks have been difficult for her but I think everyone will agree with me when I say that she looks stunning! Id also like to thank you for all the hard work that you have put in to make this day so special, I was under the impression that weddings organised themselves, how wrong I was!

When I saw you walk down the aisle today, I knew what I've known for years and that is that you are everything that I could ever want in someone to spend the rest of my life with.

They say you shouldn't marry the person you live with, you should marry the person you can't live without – I've been with Laura for nearly 4 years now and this has never been truer! She is funny, intelligent, kind, caring …sorry I can't read Laura's writing pass to Laura, what does this say?

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives and I can't wait to see what the future brings for us tomorrow.

I'd like to make the most the important toast of the day now, so please can you raise your glasses to the most important woman in the room and in my life, my best friend and my wife – to Laura!

Just in case you thought that you were going to miss out, Ive got you a little something to show you how much special this day is because of your efforts.

To Best Man:
And last but not least Id like to thank my Best Man! Ive known you since the days we both had hair and nothing to moan about and despite living all the way in Bournemouth, I couldn't have asked for more from you! We have both got you a present to thank you but I think I want to hold onto it until after I hear your speech!

I imagine that hes just as nervous as me so please feel free to heckle him throughout, Id also like to mention that the lad is a Liverpool fan and has been to Old Trafford more times than he to Anfield!

It now gives me great pleasure to hand you over to Gav, the best man that any groom could wish for!
