Grooms Speech actual
I did some research for this speech and found that on this day in 1947 the spruce goose took off flew 70 ft above the water for a mile before landing … it took 14,000 gallons of fuel to get that thing flying, hopefully. it should only take 4 bacardi breezers for the same to happen to me! If you have no idea what the spruce goose is… Tim, then that joke was completely wasted…
It may have been mentioned already, but you should see some disposable cameras on the tables, please feel free to use them… and don't worry about what you happen to snap… I'll get Donna to get them developed… it will save my blushes as I try to explain the photos down at the police station! :o)
I promised myself when writing this speech that I wouldn't say it, but the pressure was too great… (Point to Donna) On behalf of my… wife and I… We would like to thank you all for coming to join us in celebrating our marriage. I was going to say that some of you have traveled from Scotland, but looking around that happens to be about 80% of you… so a big thank you to you all! And I'll say it now if I don't get a chance later, have a safe journey home! Thanks to Andy O and Sandra for traveling all the way from Germany… I think a special mention is due for Donnas Friend Irene and Dave they would have traveled all the way from Sweden to join us today, however, Irene gave birth to a baby boy two weeks ago, so their priorities changed. But that's OK.
Special thanks go to Susan and Raymond for their lovely readings and to Sheilah for being our witness, earlier today, so thank you…
Thanks to Andy for being my best man, and as a token of appreciation, for not losing the rings, we have got you a little something, Donna, do the honours, However, there is another, much more practical pressie waiting for you BUT you will only get it if your speech isn't too damning! And if it is, I'm having it!
Thanks to Annie, for the cake, … it looks great… hopefully it'll taste even better! Also thanks to Kate for the flowers, and the buttonholes… but every time I look to the left I get stabbed in the chin!
Of course I must not forget to thanks our parents, if I did, I would probably get a thick ear, from either Mum! Thank you for all of your continued support through the years, and your very kind contributions to the wedding… and as token of our appreciation we would like to give you these…
Really most importantly of all thanks to Donna. Thank you for all of your hard work in organizing the wedding… I admit that I could have helped much much more in the organization… and really this is one of the many reasons why I love you… coz you somehow manage to put up with me! But I also feel I have to apologize… when you took my hand, you also got lumbered with my name…So Mrs. Smith, as a token of my love and respect for you, and compensation, I have a little something for you…
So to finish up, a couple of toasts, firstly to Sue and Sheilah, I have a heard a few horror stories or what some big sisters tend do to their little brothers, so I thought do some damage limitation and keep you sweet now rather than suffer later! So a toast, Sheilah, Sue, Slainte, sonas, agus, bearthus, Gaelic for Health, wealth and happiness!
And last but by no means least, My Wife,
To Donna, May my wallet be empty, but your wardrobe full, May my hands be blistered, but your house upright and true, May my annoying habits by tolerated, but yours ignored, and may my love keep you warm always!
