Must admit, this website has been an absolute godsend! Thanks so much for the advice.

First and foremost, I'm sure Joelle would like to join me in saying thank you to Mac for his kind words, well, I hope so, as it's far too late to change my speech now!

I'd like to thank Mac and Nickie for making this day possible. Without their help and support, none of us would be here today. It's been an interesting year, what with leaking baths, and babies and big birthday bashes to contend with – I was surprised that Nickie was able to cope with everything, but I'm sure you'll all agree with me when I say she's done an absolutely fantastic job. I have to thank them both for bringing up such a beautiful daughter. I'll leave you to argue with each other over which trait comes from who. I hope I can be everything you want from a son-in-law and I promise to take special care of your lovely daughter. Thank you to you both for making me so welcome into your family and your home – Mac, I'll be borrowing the GT40 then later, or was that not part of the deal?

I would also like to thank my parents, who should really receive a medal for endurance. They have loved and supported me through every stage of my life (including all the bad ones). Thanks mum and dad for your love and guidance <pause> and espcially the money!

So for our mums, we have a little thank you from both of us <flowers for mums>

I thought I had prepared myself quite well for today, but nothing could have prepared myself for the moment I saw Joelle walk down the aisle. I thought my legs were about to give way. Never have I seen her looking so beautiful, I was overwhelmed to say the least. I should be used to it by now, as Joelle always dresses to kill, it's just unfortunate that she cooks the same way – Nickie, I'll have to talk to you later about that!

Today so far has been a day beyond my wildest dreams. They say you don't marry the person you can live with – you marry the person who you cannot live without – which in Joelle's case is very true.

So to my wife, Joelle, thank you for everything you have done and making me the happiest man alive. We've known each other for over 10 years, and have been together for three of them. You are my best riend and I love you with all my heart. You know everything about me and love me just the same. I have my faults and yet you still agreed to marry me. I am extremely lucky to be the one to marry you – and I hope that this will be the start of many more happy years together. <single rose for bride>

On behalf of my wife and I, I'd like to thank all of you. Thank you for your presence – in both senses of the word! I know some of you have travelled quite far to be here to share this really special day with us – Spain, France, St Albans, Somerset (ok, not so far in some cases!) and both Joelle and I are delighted to see you.

I would also like to thank the ushers, Dave and Steve, who've done a great job of ushing our guests into church, our thanks to you both.

Our thanks go also to Rick, my brother and best man. He didn't lose the rings, so part of his job has gone well, and although we haven't heard his speech yet, I'll thank him anyway… but before I hand you over to him, we would like to say one more thank you.

We'd like to say thank you to our bridesmaids, Tamara, who came over from Spain to be here today, and to a special little girl, Naomi – you look like a little princess. You've both been wonderful bridesmaids, and have helped make our day more special.

So before you hear from Rick, I'd like you all to charge your glasses, be upstanding and join me in raising a toast to the bridesmaids – Naomi and Tamara.
