"On behalf of my wife and I…………………………..I would just like to say a few words.

I should tell you, I did have a really great speech planned, but now that I'm married, my wife has told me exactly what I'm going to say.

I was really, really nervous about standing up here and speaking, suffice to say it's not the first time today I've stood up from a warm seat with a piece of paper in my hand.

(Thank You – Guests)
Firstly, I would like to thank you all for coming and making this a very special day. Thank you all for your cards and gifts. Jennifer and I are overwhelmed by your generosity and appreciate it a lot.

(Thank You – In Laws)
Ian and Caroline thank you very much for your support and for welcoming me into your family. Thank you both for this lovely reception. Ian, thank you for your kind words and I hope I can live up to both of your expectations.

(Thank You – Mum and Dad)
I also like to thank my own parents for putting up with me today and over the years. Thanks for your love and patience through my teenage years; which I'm sure I'll grow out of soon. Most of all, thank you giving me such a wonderful start in life.

(Thank You – Bride)
So on to my wife, I'm so glad I'm married to Jennifer, she's beautiful, intelligent, caring, hard working……………what does that say? Jen, I can't read your writing!

Seriously, I'm completely overwhelmed at how beautiful she looks today, and can't believe just how privileged I am that she's chosen to be my wife.

Jennifer, you know everything about me, and you love me just the same. I have my faults yet you still want to spend your life with me. I love you, thank you for making this the best day of my life.

I hope that every day will be as happy as today……………..just less expensive.

(Thank You – Best Man)
I'd also like to thank Graham for agreeing to be my best man. Drink up mate, you're up next. Graham will be speaking to you in a couple of minutes about some of my darker secrets and from what I've heard about his speech ability, this might be Peterhead's first case of foot IN mouth.

(Thank You – Groomsman & Ushers)
I'd also like to thank Graham Smith for being my groomsman and to Ian, Ewan and Stuart for being ushers. I got told there is an unwritten wedding rule that no one is allowed to look more handsome than the groom. Thanks for sticking by it lads.

(Thank You – Bridesmaids)
Finally, on behalf of Jennifer and I, I would like to thank Nicola and Jennifer for being Bridesmaids and Alana for being a great Flowergirl. You've all been terrific and I'm sure your all agree that they look beautiful.

I would therefore like to propose a toast so ladies and gentlemen, if you would please be upstanding………….to the Bridesmaids.

(End)
Finally, I was just thinking that it's funny how history repeats itself. About 26 years ago Jennifer's mum would have been putting her to bed with a dummy…………and here we are again today.

Thank you all very much for coming, Cheers."
