On behalf of Mrs Howard and I, I'd like to thank you all for joining us today to celebrate our marriage.
I was a bit nervous about giving a speech so I took the time to prepare a few lines…..once I snorted them I felt fantastic.
I've already said my best words today and they were ‘I do’ , so bear with me and I'll make this as quick and as painless as possible.
Firstly I'd like to thank Eric for his kind words. When I went to visit Eric to ask for his permission to marry Sam it took him about 2 seconds to say yes. I'm not sure if that's because he was glad to finally be getting rid of her or that he thought I was the right man for her. I hope it was the latter. You've done a fantastic job of raising her and I promise to take good care of her. We'd like to give you a small gift to say thank you for all you've done.
Next up it's the mum's, Sue and Marian. Thanks to Sue for doing the alterations to the bridesmaids dresses and for making the wonderful cake. I bags the top tier, you lot can fight amongst yourselves for the other two.
I'd also like to thank you for having such a gorgeous daughter, the eldest one of course, steady Charlotte.
And Mum, what can I say. The first 2 and a half years were brilliant until Paul came along and spoilt it. Thanks for everything you've done for me, for always supporting me and believing in me. You know how much you mean to me and if I say anymore you'll only start crying, so I'd just like to give you both a bouquet. Thank you both.
Now the best man. The best man is someone who is sensible, levelheaded and organised. I don't know anyone like that so I've got Jason. A big thank you to Jason and Hayley for organising a brilliant stag weekend in Glasgow. I say brilliant, the bits I can remember were. Getting 22 blokes round all those art galleries and museums in a strange city was quite an achievement. Very educational. Thanks for getting me sorted out this morning and making sure everything was going according to plan, and here is a token of my appreciation.
As you all know Sam likes to wear the trousers in this relationship but I think you'll agree she looks absolutely stunning in a dress. Everyday Sam says or does something that makes me laugh and in the 4 years we've been together we've never had an argument. That just shows how well suited we are. Sam always supports me in everything I do and I know we will always be happy together. I'm going to do everything I can to make you as happy as you make me. I love you.
Lastly the bridesmaids. All five of you look wonderful, without managing to outshine the bride, well done. I'm sure you've all been working hard this morning to keep Sam calm and to make sure everything went smoothly. Well thanks to you all and we've got a little present for you.
