My wife and I would like to welcome you all here today. It's really lovely to see so many of you joining us to celebrate the happiest day of our lives. I know that some of you have travelled a long way to be here and that means a lot to us. Thank you for being here to share our day with us. It really wouldn't be the same without all of you
I would like to thank my brand new, shiny father in law, Dave, for his kind words and good wishes – Thanks Dad
I would like to thank Amy's Mum and Dad, Liz and Dave, for accepting me into their fantastic family and for helping us with the wedding. I am very honoured to have such wonderful in-laws. So now i am your son in law, I am delighted to have more family to wash my clothes for me. So if you could all stand and raise a glass to Liz and Dave.
Now as this speech is from both of us, Amy would like to thank my Mum and Dad…You should be very proud to have raised such a handsome, intelligent, dashing son, who is athletic, wise and a very modest man, who is…Have I already said handsome?
But seriously, Mum and Dad, thank you for the love and support over the years through the good times and the bad, and also with helping with the wedding. You have always told me right from wrong, and always given me advice when I've asked for it or even when I haven't. You really are the best parents I could ever wish for and I hope you are as proud as me as I am as proud as you. So thank you. If you could all stand and raise a glass to Julie and Bob.
The bridesmaids, Samantha and Cara, you are both looking stunning today and I'm sure everyone here would agree! Thank you for all the love and support you have given Amy over the years, and for keeping her calm over the last 24 hours or so. A job i do not envy in the slightest.
Now there is an unwritten rule at weddings that no one should look more handsome than the groom and I am pleased to say that both ushers, Ricky and Alex, have stuck to that rule. Thanks for your help today guys. You are both great mates with some amazing memories and I'm sure I'll see you at the bar later where you will buy me a drink.
One of my biggest thank you's is to the best man. My best friend and the uglier one of the two, my brother Mike. Mike is what i would call a stereotypical big brother. He has always looked out for me, supports me in everything i do and i really look up to him. There is no one else in the world I would have wanted to be my best man. He really is a great man and a brother and I couldn't ask for any better! But……… there is one small unfortunate trait that my brother has. He often drifts unknowingly from fact to fiction . He has been known to make up fanciful stories all about me, believing them to be true. Anyway, it's only right that I advise you all of this ahead of his speech, so if you could bear with him, even join with him on his journey of make believe, I would appreciate it. Love you bruv. So if you could all stand and raise a glass to the best man.… Mike.
I wouldn't be standing here today if it wasn't for a beautiful, kind, and caring woman in my life who has made me so happy over the years. My wife, Amy. We actually met at a friend's house over 4 years ago just by chance. She went over to the house because she left her purse round there the day before and I was there the next day when she picked it up. So if it wasn't for that purse then we probably wouldn't have met. Funnily enough though, now she now has my wallet…I don't think I'll ever get that back. As soon as I saw her I was immediately attracted to her and obviously vice versa as she accepted my offer of taking her out for a stereotypical date at the cinema followed by a drink. She laughed at all the right places – not something I've experienced before and so I thought I'm going to progress this. After a few more dates, I knew that Amy was Miss Right. Luckily for me her first name isn't “Always”. Anyway, after taking Amy out for a meal in May last year, I blindfolded her (steady on guys!!) took her into the lounge of our house where it was covered in rose petals and candle, I went down on one knee and asked her to remove the blindfold and it was there I popped the question. And to my delight she said yes. Needless to say, after over 4 years since our first date we are here today with friends and family as Husband and Wife. I have learned a valuable lesson having lived with Amy – when I'm wrong, admit it. When I'm right, keep quiet!
I would like to thank Amy for marrying me and for making me complete. You look so beautiful today, as you always do. And I am honoured to have married you today. You make me happy when I'm sad, laugh when I cry and I couldn't love another person more than I love you. I cant wait to start our new lives as Husband and wife I'm really looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.
So before I pass you over to the Best Man, Could I ask you all to stand and raise your glasses to make a toast to my beautiful new wife…..Amy!!
