This was a modest wedding. We liked it that way. The speech felt a little bit formal for a fairly intimate gathering of around 50 people but overall it went down well. Nobody was offended and it was a priviledge to be able to get away with some cheap gags.

Our wedding was in Nelson, New Zealand and we had a wonderful day. My brother Luke (the best man) made a couple of gentle jokes about what a nerd I was - this speech really confirmed it! But it also went down really well. MS Excel calculates numbers of days just by subtracting one cell from another so I was able to produce accurate numbers with very little work.

Hey there - I borrowed lots of quotes from this site and some general internet quote sites also. It went okay although in hindsight I could have been sooooo much funnier! I got heckled by a 2 year old and wish I'd said 'tough crowd' instead I just asked if he was okay and if he needed anymore cake.... slightly lame but it got a laugh. Everyone said the speech was enjoyable, i think the wedding present for my wife helped alot. My advise is copy and paste loads of speeches then take what it is similar to your circumstances and tweak it to your situation. Dont leave it till the last moment. Once I got started I really enjoyed writing the speech and even looked forward to presenting it good luck.
