My speech today will be like a mini-skirt……….

Long enough to cover the essentials ……..… And short enough to hold your attention!

As King Henry VIII said to his wives I shall not be keeping you long.

Apparently it's my job to do all the thank you, so on behalf of my lovely new wife and I, the biggest thank-you goes to all of you for coming. The day would not have been the same without you. It is lovely to see so many of you here. Particularly those of you who have had to travel so many miles to be here, we really appreciate it. You have all helped to make our day so special and one to remember. We would also like to thank you for all the cards and kind gifts that we have received. We greatly appreciate it and we will be putting it towards a deposit for a house of our own.

Best Man

Iain, Is my bestest buddy and means the world. I'd personally like to say a massive thanks for agreeing to be my best man. You're looking pretty good for a Ginger Ninja .I have known Iain for 7 years now, and we have been through the good times and he helped me greatly through the bad. He won't like me telling you this but through the harsh arrogant exterior, is a guy with a heart of gold who always stands up to be counted when the going gets tough. He is a mate that won't let you down and somehow has always managed to get me home on every night we have gone out on …no mean task I can tell you for those that know me. I should perhaps just mention at this point that Iain suffers from a rare medical condition which makes him prone to embellishment. He often invents the most fanciful stories, which he sincerely believes to be true. I hope you bear this in mind when he stands up to speak in a few moments.

Bridesmaids

Thank you too to Nina, Jade and, Julia, our Bridesmaids. I'm sure you will all agree that they all look absolutely stunning today. Thank you all for everything you have done for Pola, both today and over the last few weeks and months. You have done a great job. Thank you.

Mum

Mum and Dad, a special thank you to you… for without you I would not be here today, thank you for all your love and support over the years. You've always been there when I've needed you and you've got me through thick and thin. Granted, it was more thick than thin! It must be very hard to come to terms with the fact that you raised such a perfect son. And thank you for instilling in me, whatever it is that convinced Pola that she wanted to marry me; on that score alone, you should be justifiably proud of yourself, I am certainly proud to have you as my parents. Rest in peace dad I miss you. Wish you could have been here with us today.

Parents in law

Traditionally I am supposed to thank you both at this point for welcoming me into your family, but it seems kinda strange for me to do that today, as you have both made me feel like a part of your family for a number of years now. Since I first met Pola, I have always looked forward to coming over to Poland to see you both. I genuinely could not have asked for nicer in-laws and I look forward to the free dinners and holiday lodgings for years to come!I would also like to thank you both for your momentary lapse in sanity and allowing me to marry your beautiful Daughter. I love Pola with all of my heart and will do everything I can to make her happy. I won't let you down.

Brother in law.

I would also like to briefly thank wojtek, my new brother in-law, not only for welcoming me into his family… but also for not having me beaten up for dating his baby Sister.

Bride:

I read somewhere that “You don't marry the person you can live with; you marry the person you cannot live without”.

This brings me nicely onto my gorgeous new wife. Pola – you look absolutely stunning today.

I want everyone here to know how lucky I feel to be here right now. Pola is beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring – the list is endless but unfortunately I can't read the rest of her writing!

But seriously though… Pola, I love you in so many ways and for so many reasons, because you know me and understand me like no one else ever could, because you believe in my dreams and care about my feelings, because you make me laugh so hard and smile so often, because you have a way of bringing out the very best in me, but mostly because you're my very best friend, my soul mate. I love you with all my heart.

Thank you for marrying me and making me the happiest man alive and for loving me as much as I love you. I know this is the start of a lifetime of happiness together.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding, for the most important toast I'm ever likely to make, to my Wife, my bride and my absolute world, to Pola.

Now all that remains, is for me to say please enjoy the rest of the evening…… and mine's a Jack D ….
