Thanks Neil for your kind words and the lovely service.
Today, so far has been a day beyond my wildest dreams. They say you don't marry someone you can live with – you marry the person who you cannot live without which is very true with Fiona. So on behalf of my wife and I…………………I would like to say a few thank yous.
I would like to thank Fiona's Mum and Dad for bringing up such a beautiful and intelligent daughter. I'll leave you to argue over which trait comes from who.
Thanks for all your help you've given us with the wedding. Thanks to Mrs Alexander for helping with the flower arrangements and the place cards! And thanks to Mr Alexander for, not only agreeing to use your car for today, but also for welcoming me into, and making me part of your family. I think that the only way I can repay the both of you is by making your daughter as happy as I can.
We must also thank my parents as I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them. Thank you for your love and support over the years, for the advice you have given me, for putting up with all the moods and tantrums and pointing me in the right direction and I hope you are content that I am now someone else's responsibility!
I would also like to thank Bill and his staff for putting together what will be a wonderful meal. If the soups anything to go by, we're in for a great treat and YES Dad, you can go up more than once!
Unfortunately it is not possible for everyone to be here who we would have liked to have with us on a day such as today. I'm thinking particularly of my late Gran, Mary. I know she never had the pleasure of meeting Fiona but I'm sure she would have looked her up and down and said in her own way, ‘Aye Scott, you've pulled a cracker there!’
The one person in this room to which I owe the most thanks is Fiona, my wife. She almost single handedly organised today and she was getting really stressed and worried about whether or not everything would fall into place. I just hope it's turned into the kind of day you were dreaming about. I am sure you will all agree how stunning she looks today. I can honestly say I was overwhelmed when Fiona walked through those doors today, and I would like everyone here today to know how happy I feel that Fiona agreed to be my wife. She is beautiful, intelligent, charming, caring, sophisticated – the list is endless but unfortunately I can't read the rest of her writing!! But seriously though, to my wife, I would just like to say thank you for marrying me, making me very happy and for loving me as much as I love you. I know we've been through a lot over the past year and the fact that we're still together shows a great testament of the way we feel about each other. Thanks for making today the best day of my life.
Now I would like to introduce you all to my best man, Ramsay. Over the years he's taught me many things. He's taught me how to drink loads, how to fall over lots and still manage to find my way home, eventually. Special thanks for making my stag day a day to remember…even though I can't remember much past 10pm. A lot of thought and effort went into arranging everything and it certainly paid off.
Seriously, Biss, I could not think of anyone who I would rather have as Best Man for my wedding
…No seriously I couldn't…I tried…but they were all busy.
You've been a great mate over the years and I can always rely on you to keep me in check and my feet on the ground.
We've got you a little something to say thanks…I suggest you open now. Dutch courage and all that! It's your turn next mate!
And now ladies and gentlemen, as she did such a fantastic job, would you please join me in a toast to our lovely bridesmaid, Lesley. Lesley!
Now I'm not going to stand here and give you a load of stale old jokes that will be done by our best man………Mr Ramsay Bissett……….…
