So, they say public speaking and heights are 2 of the greatest fears in life, and take it from me, as someone who has worked at heights, that I'd much rather be up a pylon right now than giving this speech.
When it came to writing the speech I couldn't think of much to say, and it got to the stage where I would have been happy just to take a cue from bilbo baggins book, you know, slip the ring on, disappear and everybody goes home.
They say that the wedding day is the happiest day of your life, so I must ask all the married men….… Is it all down hill from here?
The vows weren't the traditional 1’s I was expecting, such as till death us do part, in sickness and in health and for better and for worse. Well, let's face it, I couldn't do any better and heather damn sure couldn't do any worse.
It's great that you have all come to share our special day, and I would like to thank you all from both myself and heather. I'd also like to to thank the people who had to make the journey up North to be here, even though I think my uncle Eric just enjoys the challenge of seeing how much he can knock off the price of a hotel.
Thanks to Heathers mam and dad, Lynn and Roly for raising such a lovely daughter. Also, for opening their home to me and making me feel part of the family.
Also thanks to my family for their support.
I'd like to thank the bridesmaid, Elaine, who is heathers sister. You look lovely today, and you have contributed to making our day even more memorable, thank you.
And now to my father in law Roly. Thank you for walking heather down the isle, and for not hesitating to give her away at the end of it. And remember, try not to think of today as gaining a son, but finally losing a daughter.
Thanks to my best man, my dad. For being someone to rely on, and helping me get through today without a hitch, and also for looking after the rings.
Right well I suppose I should now say a few words about the lady to my left, the star of the show! Heather, my Wife!
In the time we have been together I've had 3 different jobs, but I still have the same boss.
Seriously though, Heather, today you look simply stunning. I have never seen you look so beautiful as you do right now and I think everyone here will agree. Being able to now call you my wife is a privilege I will never tire from, it truly is an honour, and I love you.
