Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Chris for his kind words and for letting me marry his daughter.
In terms of my speech, I apologise in advance for it being a bit long winded, but MY WIFE AND I have a lot of lot thank you's to make.
THANK GUESTS FOR COMING
[To reiterate what Chris said earlier,] we would firstly like to thank you all for being here today. Lots of you have had a way to travel and it really wouldn't be the same without you. We would also like to thank you for your kind gifts and generosity which has blown us away and will allow us to have the holiday of a lifetime. However, unfortunately, it has not been possible to have everyone here that we would have liked, so if you could please raise you glasses in a toast to absent friends and family.
THANKS TO PARENTS
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our parents for everything they have done to help make today happen. We really couldn't have done this without them…obviously!!!
Personally I would like to thank Chris and Ang for being so welcoming towards me from day 2…I say day 2 as I am not sure Chris had warmed to me on Day 1.
And my mum and dad deserve a medal for putting up with me over the years and then putting up with the pair of us for 10 months before we moved into our new home.
As a token of our appreciation, we have a little something for the two mums.
USHERS
As for the ushers. Wedding etiquette says that nobody should look more handsome than the groom on his wedding day, so I thank you all for sticking to that! You have each been great mates, and I shouldn't forget that it was Chris that actually introduced me to Vic some 10 years ago. In fact I remember Chris pointing Vic out to me when we were at school, it was his description, which was heavily focused on this area [point to chest] which really put Vic on my radar!
As a thank you for all your hard work this morning we have a little something for each of you.
BEST MAN
Obviously special mention goes out to my Best Man, Ben. I have known Ben for a lot of years and I would just like to say that his scathing sense of humour, care free attitude and the fact that he is better than me at everything make him horrible to be around. I just can't shake him off!
He did however organise a great stag. For those who don't know we went skiing in Slovenia as some bright spark thought the best way for me to learn to ski was on the back of a roaring hangover. That said, Ben really did look after me, he would ply me with Berocca last thing at night and I'd wake to him spooning me most mornings, it was just like being at home with Vic! Although, I am now starting to doubt that it was actually Berocca he was feeding me!!!
So as a token of our appreciation we have a little something for you too mate.
WIFE
I would also like to thank my new wife… for marrying me and putting up with me generally. I think you will all agree that she looks absolutely stunning today and completely took my breath away when she was walking down the aisle. I love her enormously and have been looking forward to marrying her for a long time now!
Vic has also done an incredible job in organising lots of today on her own while I have been studying. Saying that, I am not sure she would have wanted it any other way. From the time that we got engaged I was only ever entrusted with three things:
Wedding cars,
Honeymoon, and
Wedding underwear
However in reality, Vic even had a large hand in organising each of these, well apart from the underwear. And to be quite honest I didn't do a great job in that department, those frilly knickers I picked out for myself are riding up something terrible!
But on a more serious note, I feel enormously privileged to be standing here today with my new wife; she makes me laugh and smile like no other.
THANK & TOAST THE BRIDESMAIDS
My final thank you is for our bridesmaids. Gemma, Grace and Esther. Gemma has been a fantastic bridesmaid and big sister to Vic and we are both very thankful for all of the help and support you have given us. So we have a little something for you to say thank you.
And as for our little bridesmaids, we have a little something for you just for being so adorable!
So if you could all please raise a glass in a toast to the bridesmaids.
Well that is all of our thank you's done so I guess I better hand you over to my best man, Ben…
