Firstly I'd like to thank every for coming. We're especially grateful to those people who have travelled a long distance to be here.
I did, of course, have a great speech worked out for you today, but as I am now married, my wife has told me what to say instead.
I suppose some of you are wondering why we got married on a Friday, and not on a Saturday like most people. Well, today is 6 years to the day we first got it together. I can tell you, six years took a long time coming yet passed so quickly.
Most couples on their wedding day describe it as the happiest day of their lives. That worries me a bit because it implies that as from tomorrow there's a lifelong decline ahead, so I'm making the most of today.
Changing the subject slightly, I'd like to thank Kelly for planning today almost single handedly. It would never have happened as well as it has without her.
I'd also like to thank my Dad and Kelly's Dad for the help they've given us both emotional and financial. We have a small gift for you as a token of our appreciation.
I'd like to thank the bridesmaids and say how wonderful they look. We also have a gift for you to say thank you.
Before I hand you over to my best-man Steve, may I just a final thank you to Kelly for deciding to marry me. We've been through thick and thin, and we've had our ups and downs, and yet she still wanted to marry me. I doubt anyone else would put up with me for so long like she has. So once again thank you.
