First I want to thank Katie and Andy for letting me be part of their special day. It really means a lot to me to be able to stand up here with them

To those of you who don't know me I'm Marissa. Katie and I go back to our freshman year at BHSU Heide hall 3 floor. Katie and I really became friends about half way through our first semester, before that I just knew her as one of those Yankton girls. Katie and I became friends due to her willingness to always lend a helping hand.

If you really want to know the truth she actually won me over by baking me rolls. You know how some people say, you had me from hello, well Katie had me from that first freshly baked frosted Pillsbury roll. She called them our friendship rolls and that was the start of a lifelong friendship.

Now Andy, getting married is a big step in life. So I decided to do my part in helping you achieve wedded bliss by providing you with a few tips to living with Katie

5 Tips to living with Katie

5. Number 5. In getting married you will have many new titles and responsibilities bestow upon you. Some of these my include husband, friend, house keeper, cook, et cetera. However one of the most important roles will be exterminator. You will be become the slayer of spiders, bugs and all that is creepy crawly. In fulfilling this role, you will become Katie's knight in shining armor

4. Number 4. Every day is an adventure with Katie. I know when I had the opportunity to live with her in the little red house she introduced me to the finer things in life. Such as boxed wine and eating ice cream from measuring cups. I also remember an adventure that took place in the dorms. Katie had a craving for boiled eggs. Being in the dorms, our cooking options were limited. So she decided to boil the eggs in the microwave because what can't you cook in a microwave? Well as it turns out, eggs.

3. Number 3. If she ever says “Just try it, it'll be fun!&quo; Don't do it! I have many stories that I could share that would illustrate this point but one particular memory stands out in my mind. It was the Fall of our sophomore year of college and Katie got a Razor Scooter that she was excited to ride to and from class. One evening she graciously offered for me to ride it the rest of the way back to the dorms. I declined however Katie insisted “Just try this, it'll be fun!&quo; Well needless to say ripped jeans and one scrapped knee later it wasn't as fun as she had made it out to be

2. Number 2. Katie is wise beyond her years. Know that she has wisdom to share and lessons to be taught. I have been blessed to be on the receiving end of these lessons and words of wisdom a time or two. These are a few of my favourites:

Wake up each day and make something of yourself. Better yourself in some way even if you practice patience or smile more often. So that way when you go to bed at night you can say you did something rather than just waiting for time to pass

Each day we have a struggle-a fight-a battle and some days you lose the battle, but as long as you don't lose the war- you'll be fine. Because tomorrow is another day and another battle will be waiting for you. And when the going gets tough, the tough find their friends and their friends get them going!

1. Number 1. Remember Katie is a princess. Princesses are defined by their charming personalities, charitable hearts, and beauty both inside and out. Although she may not seem so charitable or charming when racing in Mario Kart and you send a blue shell her way or she falls off Rainbow Road.

Katie I am happy you have found your prince and your fairy tale is in motion. You are now ready to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.

Katie and Andy, I wish you many years of love and happiness. May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet, enough trials to keep you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to keep you happy, enough failure to keep you humble, enough success to keep you eager, enough friendship to give you comfort; AND enough determination to make each day more wonderful than the one before

Congratulations!
