Wedding Speeches

I used your website and in honesty it was a God-send in assisting me put my 'Best Man' speech together so with the best intensions of giving something back here's mine. It lasted 27 minutes and was extremely well received.

This was my Best Man's speech at my cousin's wedding in May 2004. Everyone had a right good laugh so I hope people visiting the site also find it funny! Must say thanx to all those who have had an input on the Hitched website as it was a huge help when I was compiling my speech and I'm sure it will be valuable to many others in the future. I found you site really useful for preparing my speech last weekend. Please find attached my speech for you to use as an example.

please find attached my speech from ealier this year. I was congratulated by alot of people and got a sense that the speech went down very well. I had originally used your excellent website for some research so I thought it fitting to contribute to your archives. I did find that essentially, the speech had to come from me and should be about me and my friend. Researching the speeches I found initially it was easy to fall into the trap of padding the speech out with sourced jokes but quickly found that this made the speech sound too contrived. This had the entire room laughing for 25 minutes non stop, so I guess you could say it worked - but it's all in the delivery, I was jumping around like a fool, I'd learnt most of it, and I also adlibbed and jumped off script quite a lot too, but it may help someone…..

Just wanted to say that, I found it extremely beneficial being able to browse through these speeches before I had to prepare my own. I attach the speech I recently performed at my friend's wedding, hopefully other Best Men will find it useful. Regards

Dear Hitched.co.uk, The following speech was performed for my best friend on Friday 16th April 2004. This site proved invaluable to my quest to compose and perform a good speech. It didn't stop the nerves however but the brownie points I received from the guests at the wedding afterwards more than made up it. Thanks to your wonderful site and all the people who have submitted speeches to it. I only hope that someone can find mine useful in return.
