Hi! You may wish to consider adding to your best man's sample speeches the attached speech I delivered at the wedding of my brother John and his new wife Sue on 18 August 2002. delivered this speech on my wedding day on 27th July. Heavily borrowed from this tremendous site. Speech went down very well (much to my amazement) and got loads of laughs. Advice - practice, practice, practice. I knew the speech back to front and this meant I had very few nerves about it at the time. Hope it is of some use to others.

Hi, I found you web site very inspiring when trying to write my speech, as I'm only 22 it was a bit of a task for me. I found myself to be quite nervous as expected. However against all odds I pulled it off and to be quite honest It rocked! I can strongly suggest that if your going to do a speech the props can fuel it immensely. For instance the comments that came back from the bride and groom on the Handcuff issue were excellent. Anyway a big thanks to your website for your help and I only hope mine will help someone else. I actually lost my speech before I had to go and speak. I was not nervous, but was slightly annoyed at everyone coming up to me saying, "oh, you’re the best man? Nervous are you?" Just ignore what people say and enjoy taking the Mick. The speech is about ten minutes long and everyone was in stitches, especially the dog called SEX joke. Dear Hitched this is the speech that I presented at my brothers wedding, as you can see most of it is plagiarised from some of your previous submissions. One piece of advice I would give is to make sure you present the speech to a neutral listener as the spoken word sounds different to that that is written. My speech for my best friend Matt Hartigan. My advise: you have to do it, just prepare well, practice before hand, say it as you would say things everyday and most importantly be yourself and enjoy it!
