Wedding Speeches

I was very nervous about the whole speech from writing it to delivering it but this website helped loads.I used examples from samples and also used my own ideas to complete the speech.

Thank you to all those who have shared their speeches on this site, they gave me the ideas and inspiration to write mine.I learnt my speech and also printed each paragraph on a seperate piece of card, i was glad of these as the emotion of the occasion and my nerves got the better of me and my mind went blank on a couple of times. I put some comments in brackets and decided as i spoke to use them or not dependant on my confidence and the response of others.Have a great day it really is a very special moment!

I was the groom and this is what I wrote as one of the readings that the best woman read out for us. Hope you like it. It was written after a long search on website after website for a decent reading that wasn't cheesy or filled with saccharine. I think it'll appeal more to the guys in the audience but my wife also liked it too. Enjoy

This was a very groom-centric speech, mainly because I hadn't had much dealings with the bride's family.

This is my speech given as best man for my bigger brother. As you'll probably guess he's lived a life of fairly reckless abandon given he must have known at some point I'd get to recount all of this to a room of people with a microphone! This is not word for word as some bits were ad lib'd and a lot of it is personal to the groom .Additionally I may have taken a bit of "artistic license" with stories described! Some place names were changed to be more general and relate to readers from different ends of the country Nonetheless there are some transferable sections/structures/jokes that I made

Your site was unbelievably helpful in writing my speech (as you can easily tell from all the stolen jokes). The bride forgot to put her veil on just before she walked up the aisle - so ad-libbed a bit and threw that in the speech too! Speech seemed to get lots of laughs and generally well received, kept getting complements all night - though my brother did moan a bit about all the abuse lol. I was the mother of the bride and wanted a light and humerous speech. My daughter & fiance were married in Frascati just outside Rome and I decided to say the toast in Italian which was translated with help from my Italian neighbours! It was very well recieved.

I felt it only right to upload my speech as I took some much inspiration from this website and the speeches that had been uploaded. The speech went down very well and got laughs in the right places, but a word of warning for any FOB's to be I totaly underestimated how emotional it was standing up and talking about my daughter after the second paragraph I had to stop and compose myself as I had looked at my daughter as she was already wiping a tear.
