Hi Hitched, Your website saved my life, I told this speech last night and it went down a storm. I got the basic structure and a few jokes from your site and then built the rest from some anecdotes about the groom that I'd got and also phoned the grooms mum and dad and also the bride up for some more. Hi, Firstly thank you, thank you, thank you. If it wasn't for your site and all the examples people have posted I would have ruined my mates wedding with a very poor account of his incurably boring youth. By looking through a few speeches at random and picking the best bits then mixing in a few other things friends had heard at their weddings I manage to get a passable speech that given everyone was drunk they actually seemed to laugh at (or was it just the figure of the best man sweating profusely with a shaking microphone stumbling through the speech). I did this speech in july 2002 and just thought i should give something back to the site that aided me in writing it! It went down really well, particularly when i fluffed the queen joke which broke the ice superbly. couldn't have gone better.

Attached is the speech I gave at our daughter's wedding in July 2002. I very much appreciated the examples you put up on the site, and in return you are welcome to post mine. I have anonymized the names in it, and hope that does not detract too much.

I was very very nervous about making a speech but a BIG BIG THANK YOU has to go to hitched for giving me direction and ideas for my speech. It went down a treat. THANK YOU David
