My speech in the form of a poem went down well. A poem gets to the point quickly and holds the audience's attention.  If you cho0se to present your speech in the form of a poem there may be a few verses you could borrow, but in the main this poem is personal to me, which is one of the most important aspects of it.   I found this site useful in reaearching ideas for a speech. The first verse for example seems to be a commonly used gag - but a good opener just the same, but most of the poem came from my own experience.  Good luck with your speech!  And all the best for your wedding, and marriage

Tips for delivery: 1.) Stand behind your chair. If you get nervous, you may shake sightly. You'll be able to rest your hands on the back to make this less obvious. 2.) Practise. Find a group of close friends / family and practise as much as you can. The first few times will be a mess, trust me it gets easier the more you do this.

This is a father of the bride speech at a gay (lesbian) wedding.

Guys don't be nervous about the Wedding day, you are about to experience what will probably be the best day of your life - I know it sounds cheesy but it really is one amazing day that you will remember for your whole life. Hope my speech helps. I also adlibbed a little at the end just to say thanks to the staff (waiters, wedding planner etc..) who had worked very hard and done a wonderful job. Best of luck guys. The only problem with the speech is that it is mainly for the groom and bride.  There are a lot of references that only the groom and his family understood.  I tried to make it comedic in the beginning and serious towards the end.   I followed the kind of "format" that seems rather common with best man speeches.  Intro is the introduction and compliments to bridesmaids and bride.  Then some comedic stories about how the groom and I are best buds.  Followed by stories about the groom and the bride and about how they are a grat couple.  Finishing with thanking everyone for coming, congratulatin
