Wedding Speeches

Just did the following speech yesterday which went down an absolute treat.... The prop with the 70's gear brought the house down..... People kept coming up to me all night congratulating me, I got such a buzz from it. Regards Tony Lannon

Luckily enough I found your site. I didn't have the first clue about making a speech, well what say in it, and when I came across this site I was rescued. I read through about 7 or 8 speeches and some jokes and then edited the to fit the circumstances and the people. Saved, I was, as I had to do two speeches, one away where the couple got married and one back home at the reception on their return. My greatest thanks to your site.

Handy hint - alway have alternative anecdotes or jokes ready - the vicar at this wedding used my finale joke in her address at the church, so I was glad to have a spare one - it could happen to you!!! A most useful site, thanks for your assistance. The file attachment is my speech which is mainly my own material but with a few jokes and ideas from those that have gone before. It went down very well with the audience and so may provide material for future best men.

Dear Hitched As predicted, I have finished up as father of the bride again, in less than a year! The pressure of creating a second speech, completely different from the first (half the audience was the same) was humungous. Your site came to the rescue once again, although the best man was mortified that I ruined half of his speech (which was excellent anyway). Dear Hitched, Many thanks for a great web site, it helped me tremendously in writing my speech, so please find my one below for other peoples benefit. Many people approached me afterwards to say it was a great speech, which was nice, and unexpected. My only wish was they I had completed it sooner- i had most of it written 2 weeks before, but didn't finalise it until the actual day, which meant an extra worry. The best plan is to try and have it finished so you are happy with it 3 days before. Cheers, Gary.
