Wedding Speeches

The speech was well received, although I felt a lot of pressure following the father of the bride, who gave an absolute stormer of a speech that had the entire audience eating out of the palm of his hands! Tough act to follow.   I borrowed a lot from other speeches on this site, and also found the Speech Delivery Guide invaluable. It is important not to try and rush through - they are on your side, and are desperate to enjoy whatever you have to say.   I found that taking a sip of my drink during each toast created a natural break in the delivery, which helped me relax even further.

This isnt the final, final version.  I actually learnt it off by heart so it changed slightly too. I would recommend learning it off by heart or as near as possible - that way  you can focus on the audience rather than your notes. What I would say is that the pictures worked quite well although I would have done them bigger or got envelopes on people's tables (but I wanted people to focus on me).

I'm not a speech writer but with the help of this website and my wife taking all the hard work out of it, we managed to create this speech. I was nervous on the day but it went down really well..!   The day was simply beautiful, the best ever and our lovely daughter looked amazing, we only wished the day could have lasted forever!!    We hope this speech is helpful and you will be able to take snippets from it and tweak it to your own requirements..Good luck and we hope your wedding is as lovely as ours was!!

This was a best man speech for my brothers wedding in 2014.I think that it contains the right ammount of humor and touching moments and I hope that you will find it useful.

I pretty much memorised the speech (walking and talking to myself a few days before and on the morning of the wedding day), but I had a printed copy in large font on the table in front of me just in case. It worked well and was well received so please feel free to borrow a few lines - I know I did :)

The  speech went down very well  and took just over five minutes to deliver.

I got loads of help from hitched.co.uk. This went down really well but helped that did a bit of back and forth with best man before hand about his speech.       Easy format to remeber and useful to tie a load of stories together.
