I was very nervous but as soon as my first Joke was met with a roar of laughter my confidence soared. My speech went down brilliantly and loads of people came up to me after and told me how much they enjoyed it. The best advice I can offer is to talk really slowly, much slower than you normally would and when you pause in your speech look around the room and engage everyone in the room. I have learnt so much from reading everything on this site and felt I should give something back and if it helps just one future father of the bride in anyway I will be a very happy man.

I timed this to be about 10 minutes - possibly this could be considered a long speech, however as a performer I know that sometimes you only get one shot at making your mark and when you do, you milk it!  I only used the one gag from here actually as I wanted to keep it as personal as possible, but the speeches I did read gave me great examples and hope that I too could do a good job.

Start writing your speech a month in advance and practice, practice. practice. Practice your speech standing up, even walking round your room if it helps When you read your speech on the big day stand tall, talk with authority and if people can see you're enjoying yourself they will relax and enjoy your speech with you Dont deviate and ad lib, its hardwork even for professional speakers to get back on track.... good luck ...

I found this site very useful when putting my speech together so I humbly submit my own in the hope it may give others some ideas. Mine takes into account the bride and groom had already lived together for 6 years and had two children.      I can only underline the advice given on this site to prepare your speech well in advance and to read it out aloud  numerous times so that, God forbid, should your script go missing on the day you could make a reasonably good job without it. This helps you to deliver most of your speech looking directly at those p

Good Evening everybody, my name is Ryan and I am the best man….. On behalf of everyone here... I would like to say congratulations to Mike and Tina... And to THANKYOU both …for making me have a reason to take the day off from work to be here. As best man my job was to give Michael a proper send-off…a bachelor party. So we went to governor’s comedy club (sorry guys) and to Tellers steakhouse for a nice upscale dinner. Due to the food coma, we were all in bed before midnight and we titled the night as "Guys Gone Mild" Tina you look beautiful!! And as you walked down the aisle I know everyone
