Wedding Speeches

Lynda and I met through our common interest, Morris Dancing. As a result, this will be a Morris Dance wedding, with four Morris sides in attendance.   squires, bagmen, foremen, fools, musicians,  and all my assorted mistresses,   This refers to a number of positions and ranks within Morris

Got some great little pointers for structuring my speech here at "hitched.co.uk" and so thought I share my own final edit. It went down well and the tips section also helped. I probably read out a little too quickly but I had a very good audience who like you said were all on side. Thanks for you pointers.. Russell

My comments are, bearing in mind we are both in our 50's and each have children ranging from 22 to 36 years old it was good to see them squirming at some of the speach....

Everyone at the wedding complimented me on my speech. The minister said he has never heard such a great best mans speech and it was exactly how a bests man's speech should be. I even got thumbs up from the father of the bride. This site was great help and couldn't do it without it.    My tips would be: keep it short, start by thanking parents, tell One story connecting you to the groom, one story telling how/when you knew the bride was the one and happy that she's apart of your family, one joke and one anecdote.. No embarrassing stories or mentions of past GFs or debauchery.  

I delivered this speech/poem at my Son's wedding, I included a lot of traditional Scottish slang in it. It went down very well.

GAY WEDDING SPEECH. FATHER OF A GROOM As father of a groom at a Gay Wedding (Or Civil Ceremony) there wasnt much on the internet to guide me. Hopefully this will help some other father. The speech went down really well.
