Wedding Speeches

Beth and James got married on a lovely day in May at a tudor mansion in Lancashire. they paid for the wedding thereselves although we helped where we could. They had their first dance to the Darkness - "I believe in a thing called love" Beth (with 20 years ballet and tap dancing behind her) coreographed James and all 100 guests moshed along half way through. The wedding was very rock and roll, the groom, myself, his dad, the best man and 3 other friends wore kils even though none of us were Scots. My wife and her father are part time wedding photographers and have been to over 200 weddings in the last 4 years, making this speech difficult to write given that I couldn't copy from anywhere seeing as they would recognise previous wedding speeches.   Oh, and for the Rab C Nesbit comment, my wife and her family are Scottish...

I used half a till roll when doing my speech mad it look like there was a big long list Everyone approached me at the end of the speeches and said it was a really good speech

Giving my little sister away was one of the proudest moments of my life. Giving the speech during the breakfast was probaly one of the most nerve-racking. If i could give one piece of advice, it would be to write your speech down and practice, practice, practice. Okay that's technically 4 pieces of advice but good advice. Practice on your own and then try it out on your partner, friend or anyone who'll listen, just practice. You'll be a bag of nerves leading up to your speech but dont worry, dont drink too much and remember, no-one in the room wants you to fail, they are all on your side. W

It was well received, I'm glad to say. I'm now working on another speech for my other daughter who gets married in September!

I am the bride's stepfather and conquered my nerves enough to deliver this speech last Saturday, it seemed to go down really well! 

I chose to do the speech as a video rather than the traditional approach purely because we were to do them at 8pm.  I wanted therefore to relax and have a pint!
