Wedding Speeches

Hey there - I borrowed lots of quotes from this site and some general internet quote sites also. It went okay although in hindsight I could have been sooooo much funnier!  I got heckled by a 2 year old and wish I'd said 'tough crowd' instead I just asked if he was okay and if he needed anymore cake.... slightly lame but it got a laugh. (probably sympathy but I'll take it). If I ever make another speech I'll definately prepare for some interruptions better.  I tried to format it so that it made sense chronologically. This is my Brother of the Bride speech which I owe much of the content to several speeches on this site so I am pleased that I can hopefully contribute to someone else's day as the donnors have to mine. I used what I thought were the best bits of what I looked at. I wrote it two weeks prior and practiced everyday but even then I still read it out.   The key was in the delivery and it took me multiple practices at the venue just to get an idea of what I wanted to do. As father of the groom its said you should keep the speech lighthearted and make sure you cover off certain topics.  So I structured the speech as follows:  Greeting - Follow with a funny quote to lighten the tone - Provide background on my son and mention those in our immediate family - Mention how he met his bride - Welcome his bride's family - Talk about our observations feelings about them as a couple together - Offer fatherly advice - Close speech with a good laugh - Propose toast.  The speech took me 3 or 4 days to write by a paragraphs at a time and then rehashing them until it seemed t
