Wedding Speeches

I was absolutely terrified about giving this speech. I must have looked at 50 speeches on this site when writing mine & I think it went through about a dozen revisions. I'm no good at public speaking & I'd like to address this to other grooms in the same position as me (quaking in their boots): It'll be fine. You'll never have an audience who are on your side so much as giving your groom speech. Look around at all the people you love, hold your wife's hand for support if you want & just thank everyone for being there. I really didn't want to have to do a speech, but it ended up

This site helped a lot in formulating my speech.  So its my small way of sharing and giving back. 

I wrote this speech for two best man reading it out as a duo. Just for information related to jokes in the speech, the bride's profession is teaching and the groom had a hair transplant prior to the wedding.

I was busy working full-time and going to school up until the week of the speech, so I got all of my jokes from this site, except for the two about kidnapping brides in the middle ages; I made that one up myself. The standing ovation joke was a hit (even though the poses/instructions seem odd). I was getting compliments all night afterwards.

My Speech was well received and i was told it even brought a few people to tears! I got lots of ideas from my speech from this website so i thought it is only right and the proper thing to do to post my speech on here and try and help other people as this site really helped me.I hope some people get some ideas and even copy some lines from my speech.

I get very emotional doing things like this so I kept it short and sweet, you are only the warm up act after all....

Here is my speech, thanks for the inspiration!! I spent the full run up to the wedding worrying about this as the thought of public speaking terrifies me, however once I got going and heard that first laugh it totally relaxed me and actually quite enjoyed it. P.S Andrew got married in the Salt Mine in Krakow and hence the 'salt in the mouth' joke!!!

Speech was delivered from memory so verbatum may have been a little different depending on the crowds reaction and flow.       Reception was in Ottawa Canada

Speech was for my younger brother. Final sentence is referencing Harry Potter as they were huge fans.
